surely the best hotel in unawatuna. daniel and ava are the most amazing hosts and have built the perfect boutique hotel and offer hospitality as only persians can. it is right in the middle of unawatuna, across the street from the beach yet set back in a serene park like property. rather than overbuild the lot, like much of the area, they left tons of room for a beautiful pool and large garden shaded nicely during part of the day by massive mango trees. the rooms are large, spotless and well designed. aircon and wifi work perfectly. it truly is an oasis within unawatuna.

The location of the property was ideal, as it offered privacy and tranquility with a large garden and outdoor pool area. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the hosts Ava, Daniel and Dharma were extremely hospitable and friendly- the perfect family home/stay.

“Beautiful hotel, owner and location”

Firstly, the hosts! Incredibly genuinely caring. They couldn’t have made us feel more welcome in a genuine way. The rooms in the property are spacious, clean, modern with a hint of psychedelic artwork all composed by the owner. Beds are comfortable, AC and fan in each room. Open shower to the outside with tiled area.

The location is perfect. It’s just a few minutes from the beach, but in a quiet place so you can sleep at night with bo problem. A room is nice and comfortable. Beds are really big, so if you are traveling with a friend it’s ok, regarding they don’t offer two separate beds. Whole Dharma place have really nice decor and art.

Location was perfect. Staff were very friendly. The size of the room and bathroom were great too. Breakfast was awesome, best muesli I had! Pool was clean and the ambience was very relaxed. There was a very happy vibe around the place.

It felt athletic, beautifully designed and very quiet, despite being set just off the Main Street. The pool was fantastic, everything was just perfect, I can’t fault it!

“Amazing little oasis in the heart of Unawatuna”

My fiancée and I had a great time staying at Dharma Place! Daniel & Ava are amazing hosts and all their staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The staff are super hardworking, constantly keeping the grounds looking amazing and are so willing to help it really makes a difference! The hotel is perfectly located in Unawatuna, on the Main Street only 2 minutes to the beach and restaurants but set back enough that it is quiet and peaceful! The hotel itself is gorgeous! Lovely building with awesome outdoor showers and very nice rooms. The grounds are also really nice and the pool a beautiful spot to relax after the busy beach! Breakfast each morning was delicious, especially the omelettes. Would 100% stay again when we return to Unawatuna. Thank you guys!

Luckily we got to stay 5 nights at the end of our trip trough Sri Lanka. This place is something special. It’s such a beautiful place where you can come to rest while you’re in the middle of busy Unawatuna. There’s such an eye for detail what makes it a beautiful oasis. The room is big and beautiful with great A/C, artwork and a shower with great water pressure, temperature and your own mini-garden. The food is also really delicious with lots of plant-based options. A special thanks to Daniel and Ava who put their heart and soul into this place. Together with the friendly staff they made our stay even better.

Dharma Place was the absolute highlight of our two week trip to Sri Lanka! The most incredible, lovely hosts, so helpful and hospitable, never left us wanting for anything. The room was spacious, very clean, with comfortable beds and everything we needed. Less than 40 steps away from the beach, the location can't be beat - and with lots of great shops and restaurants right outside the door, yet perfectly zen and calm once you're back at the hotel. In short, the food, the staff, the facilities, the location, the pool, all are excellent. Can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to be back there very very soon!

Clean, beautiful room! Every person was really nice and friendly. Breakfast was perfect! Omlette with toast and cappuccino. I recommend to everyone.

We were a bit worried arriving in the busy Unawatuna but then we arrived at Dharma Place which is away from the chaos with a lovely garden and pool. We felt immediately relieved but the best was yet to come, the room was large and comfortable and the owners Daniel and Ava with their little boy Dharma are absolutely delicious and really made everything to make our stay memorable. All this was crowned by excellent breakfasts and dinners set up in the garden! This was without any doubt our best stay in our three weeks journey through the wonderful Sri Lanka and we are already dreaming of coming back to Dharma Place and to spend more time with these wonderful new friends!

I can highly recommend to visit Dharma place! I've been traveling around in Sri Lanka a lot and this absolutely has been my favourite stay so far 😍 The room I have stayed in was big, comfortable and very clean. The bathroom has a little botanical garden in there which makes you feel like showering in nature, it was one of the many Highlights. The property is big and has a Pool included and is beautifully decorated. They serve very delicious food and the owners are angels! The stay with them gave me a safe and warmhearted feeling, they are super helpful and know a lot about Sri Lanka. They are very kind and put a lot of passion and love into their place. They kinda became family, what I enjoyed the most. I definitely will come back, thank you so much for everything 🫶

Everything! Where do I start? Alright, my wife and I loved the location, it is right across from the beach and next to Unawatuna's main street. But it's also at the end of a cozy alley which makes it feel very personal and keeps you away from the hustle and bustle of the main road. You can hit the beach in 2 minutes and there are a million restaurants and other shops available in a short walking distance. The place is really beautiful and the rooms are clean and come equipped with everything one might need, like hot water with high pressure, good wifi coverage and clean sheets. The staff are also super friendly and the owners (a cute kind couple) are really nice and helpful. They provided us transportation to and back from their property and gave us a lot of information that are hard to come by on the internet if you are not a local. And we loved the breakfast as well. We had a super yummy omelette that reminded me of my mom's cooking. Oh, there's also a pool there. And since we were the only guests that night, it was our very personal pool lol We will definitely stay there again if we visit the south.
