A wonderful place to stay! The people are so hospitable and helpful. The food is amazing! They even arranged a taxi for us from Colombo Airport. They also took care of everything for the safari tour, including the driver and a delicious breakfast and lunch. It was a truly special experience in such a unique place! The cottage is very cozy, clean, and fully equipped. Highly recommended for everyone!! We also found Udawalawe National Park to be a truly amazing experience, seeing so many elephants in such beautiful natural surroundings!

Wild Lake Side is an absolutely beautiful place to stay if you're visiting Udawalawe. It is so peaceful and the villas are lovely and nicer than the photos. They had air con so we could stay nice and cool, and a lovely balcony to sit and spot wildlife from. The family who run it were so helpful with organising our activities (safari, going to the elephant orphanage) and all our travel etc. The dinner was also great.

This accommodation is amazing! We loved the room. The bed and sheets were high quality. You even get a duvet! There’s an amazing view from the balcony where you can watch fish and turtles swim by. The sounds from surrounding wildlife is magical. The host was very accommodating. They booked our full day safari for us which was a very good price considering the value we got with the driver and the extras they arranged for us. They also sorted out our washing for us by taking it to a local laundry service which meant we could just simply enjoy our time there. We ate in the restaurant for two evening meals and breakfast. Everything was great. They offered us reasonably priced taxi transfers to and from the accommodation and offered to book us travel to the local town should we want to go. It was very good value for money!

“Wonderful setting, kind and helpful hosts”

Beautifully set lodges in a wonderful garden with lots of banana and coconut palms and a small lagoon which the balconies overlook. We spotted many birds including kingfishers and turtles. You feel so much in the jungle it is wonderful. Very comfortable, hosts are kind and the food was delicious - both dinner and breakfast. They organised a wonderful safari in the Udawalawe National Park and our driver was fantastic, keeping us apart from other jeeps and explaining things - spotting elephants (including a 3 week old), peacocks, water buffalo, water monitors, wild boar, mongoose, crocodiles and many beautiful birds.

Gorgeous rustic accommodation nestled in the jungle by the river. Really beautiful and well kept. The rooms are super clean, water provided and the outdoor bathrooms are fun and have hot water. The owners are very proud of the food is delicious and prepared with care and Sri Lankan goodness! Highly recommend.

Location cabins are set in beautiful lush peaceful gardens, alive with birdlife - run by a lovely friendly family, we had home cooked Sri Lankan curry in the evening which was absolutely delicious! There are no frills& it’s fairly basic but a great stay for the price. They also arranged a morning safari to Udawalawa & tuk tuk to the Elephant transit house both of which are nearby & wonderful to visit.

It was a wonderful stay. The whole team is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, and we watched lots of animals from the balcony – it was fantastic! The entire property is beautiful, with lots of plants and surrounded by nature. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. We booked a full-day safari directly through the hotel, and everything was perfectly organized, including a very good breakfast and lunch and a great safari driver. It was even a private tour, just us and the driver. They also helped us easily with the onward journey to the next location and arranged a driver for us. All in all, it was a fantastic stay. Thank you so much! We hope to come back again someday.

“Favourite accommodation of our trip.”

We loved everything about Wild Lake Side! The location is incredible, the lodges are amazing - spacious, clean and comfortable. We spent an afternoon just sitting on the terrace watching the wildlife go by. The hosts were lovely and could organise multiple tours in the local area. We booked our safari with them and had a wonderful time. Wish we stayed for longer!

“Peaceful and clean”

Very clean and away from noise. Splendid balcony with a view of the river and forest. Well equipped, with AC, stable WiFi, fridge etc. Breakfast was good and you can have dinner there. We booked a safari and a car to Mirissa through the host. Prices were fine.

Wild Lakeside is beautiful! The property is very well maintained by the family owners The food is delicious. We enjoyed all our meals there! The rooms are very clean and comfortable, with a gorgeous view over the lake! The family organised taxis and Udawalawe tours for us, which were excellent! And we spotted lots of wildlife right on site - Brown Fish Owl, Otter, Stork-billed Kingfisher and Paradise Flycatcher to name a few!

“Excellent river stay with an abundance of wildlife”

Location was excellent. It was right in the river bank overlooking the jungle. The wildlife was stunning, which we observed from our balcony. Great location for a safari too. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The fridge and welcome drinks were a lovely touch. We ate there for 2 nights as the Sri Lankan curry was delicious. You can wandered through the grounds of the property to see their array of fruit trees and bushes.
