“Perfect one night stay before safari only”

Silent bungalow have their own jeeps and can take your directly to Udawalawe National Park Safari with the owner’s son as driver and guide. Dushal was incredible at pointing out mongoose, lizards, birds, and sharing facts about elephants. I’d recommend asking if you can leave for the safari to arrive at gates opening as it seems lots of animals are less active in the middle of the day. The dinner provided at 7.30pm by the owner was sensational and was well needed after a day of travel. The owner genuinely made me feel welcome! There’s also a beautiful cat (cats) that wanders the premises If you arrive late in the evening, stay one night, and do an early morning safari (3 hours, 4 hours, or half day), you’ll have an amazing time.

Hosted by a very friendly and welcoming family, we felt right at home at this lovely place. Cooking class was fun, educational and we ended with delicious food! Safari to nearby park was great as well.

Good location for Udawalawe national park. This is a family run basic, low cost guesthouse, you can pay extra to eat at the accommodation and it was pretty good Sri Lankan food. They also offer their own safari package and the safari guide was very knowledgeable.

Sudath and his family were so welcoming. He arranged our transport to and from Silent Bungalow, as well as the safaris and a cookery lesson. The food was excellent. The safaris were fantastic - Vishal was very knowledgeable and excellent at spotting the wildlife - from large bull elephants to little peahen chicks. We had as much time as we wanted in any spot to really watch the animals. We were never rushed and at some points, we felt that we were the only ones in the whole park.

Fabulous home cooked food (and cookery lessons). Peaceful garden setting and well located for a safari, which they provided, at the national park. All the family members were cheerful, friendly and helpful.

The Silent Bungalow is a really special place to stay. You feel as if you are already in the park as it is surrounded by forest, monkeys and birds. The family that run the bungalows and safaris are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The full-day long safari tour of the National Park is well worth it as you have plenty of time to really watch the animals and discover the whole Park. The guide is very experienced and and knowledgeable, allowing us lots of time to observe the animals. We also did their new cookery course where we were taught to cook six different dishes and then eat them for supper. The room was basic but comfortable with a fan, mosquito net and air-conditioning. It was very clean and peaceful. I would highly recommend staying here.

“The most amazing stay and safari with superb food and very friendly and helpful family”

We stayed for 3 nights and had the most fantastic time. The hosts were so welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful, they even brought us afternoon tea and bought in beers for our evening meal. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and fresh fruit. We had dinner here each night because after the first night’s seven course feast we knew it could not be beaten. Every dish was superb and they even catered for vegetarians in our group. All freshly prepared and with a variety of curries. You must take a safari with them. Look up Sudath Safari Services; such amazing value! We did the full day and it was fantastic. Their son was very knowledgeable and after the initial rush he kept us off the beaten track so it was as though we were the only Jeep in the park ! A real highlight of our Sri Lanka tour. There were so many animals and birds and we were even given a safari breakfast and afternoon tea, with china cups! This is family run and all the family were so kind and helpful. I cannot emphasise how wonderful this stay was and if you need anything the family will try to accommodate. A must stay, highly recommended.

Friendly, quiet, lovely family. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic safari which was really great - the guide was excellent, they even gave us tea in china cups on the jeep.

This place is just amazing! It is a good half mile from any real centre so some may not like that, but for us it was just superb. Our hosts have many years' experience in looking after visitors and manage this perfectly. We selected dinner the first night and loved it so much we went nowhere else for our entire stay. Beautiful 7 dish curries (we had vegetarian). Breakfasts were superb too. The room was idyllic and so quiet.. real at home with nature. Our hosts organised 2 day trips. one to Udawalawe nature reserve and one to Bundala (a 2 hour drive), making sure he personally selected our guides. Transport and food was organised for us and we arrived at dawn for the best experience each time. We spent 10 hours in Bundala and 12 in Udawalawe and the hardly saw anyone else. The wildlife was superb and we were sent with breakfast and lunch for the trip.. our host even rang the driver regularly to make sure we were being looked after. This place in amazing value for money and our best experience in Sri Lanka... we even stayed an extra night.

A lovely spot nestled in the heart of the forest, with spacious, spotless rooms. The hosts were exceptionally attentive, and the meals were excellent. We took the afternoon safari, which was a great experience. We were initially concerned about disturbing the animals, but our host was mostly respectful of their space and behavior, while also making sure we avoided the other tourists.

Off from the main road, this quiet accommodation is a family run affair. It features an opportunity to dine on home cooked meals, and they run an excellent safari as well. Highly recommend the longer safari tours if you are really into wildlife as it affords more time with the animals and to "go slow" Accommodations are basic but very clean and very quiet. Excellent value for money.

We checked in today, and the initial experience was smooth and excellent. The rooms were superb spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. The hotel staff were very polite and friendly, and they interacted with us nicely. Overall, the service was excellent, and our stay was truly satisfying. I would highly recommend this bungalow to anyone...

Great hotel in the forest. A family run hotel providing great breakfast and dinner. They also have jeeps to take you on safaris so very easy to arrange. They are a lovely welcoming family. Highly recommend

Great breakfast and amazing dinner by the owners. A silent place, perfect to start your safari from. The owners can provide a guided tour which we unfortunately missed.

Beautiful property away from the busy centre, bit not too far. Beautiful big rooms and the hosts were very friendly and served the most beautiful dinner we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far.

Amazing owners ! They organised a fair priced safari with an outstanding guide (knowledgeable on the animals and also on a no rush approach for touring around. We recommend half day safari). The owners also helped us organize our taxi for our next destination. The cooking on premise was delicious ! And I was also able to try delicious Sri Lankan deserts after asking the owners about them. Well arranged accommodation. We especially enjoyed the huge covered outside area to hang out in comfy chairs reading while it rained. Really a fantastic place to stay.
