Amazing little house with garden. Everything was very clean, a little oasis in nature. The host was great, made sure we had everything we needed. We can also recommend having dinner on the balcony. the food was delicious and it was so peaceful. Can 100% recommend! We also booked the safari to Uduwalawe directly with them, they organised everything and it was great!!

“Absolutely amazing stay”

Absolutely amazing stay at Milk House Cottage from start to finish, we only stayed for one night and when we arrived Isuru helped carry our bags to the cottage and we were given fresh coconuts. We had dinner here which was one of the nicest dinners we had in the whole of Sri Lanka and such huge portions we couldn’t finish it all. Isuru also organised our entire safari round the national park and he used the greatest guide ever who took us to ‘off the track’ places where we saw entire groups of elephants with nobody else around. Isuru also provided us with a packed breakfast to have on the safari which was amazing and so convenient with the early start. He genuinely is a host who couldn’t do enough for you! I would recommend this to anybody considering it!!

“Stunning, clean, tranquil and super comfortable!”

Our host - Isuru went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Isuru and his family were very welcoming and prepared us some amazingly tasting food. The room is absolutely beautiful and provides everything you need including a kettle, tea and coffee. Milk House Cottage is set in a beautiful and tranquil surrounding with a view into the back garden that's very nicely maintained. You can hear many different birds singing which makes the stay very pleasant. It is clear to see Isuru has put much effort into providing a memorable experience for his clients and is very proud of his property. We had an absolutely beautiful time there and would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a peaceful stay! Isuru also answered many cultural questions for us and provided us with great knowledge🙏🏻 He also organised our early morning safari which we asked to go on and sent us off with some more amazing packed food 🥞! We absolutely loved every single bit of our stay at Isuru's cottage🥰 Thank you so much for our beautiful experience and wish you and your family all the best!!

“Excellent hideaway jungle cottage”

Excellent spotlessly clean hideaway cottage to stay in for easy access to Udawalawe Safari. I thought the property was going to be more basic….but it had a hot shower, with a beautiful bathroom, air conditioning, kettle with tea and coffee, plugs and adapters, excellent WIFI and super comfy bed! The balcony has a great view to watch wildlife, whilst enjoying a homemade dinner and breakfast of a high standard. Isuru was so helpful he arranged our safari tour and taxi on arrival and leaving. “Great location, host and food”

The host takes great pride and care in his work and wants guests to have the best stay possible. The cottage room is amongst lush vegetation with amazing Birdlife around. We had asked for a full day safari (also excellent) and the packed breakfast and lunch were great. International travellers might want to be that the room is fairly basic (e.g. no hot water at the time) but there is air con and everything is clean. For us, the welcome, the traditional food and the location are what made the stay excellent value.

“Private, quiet bungalow close to Udawalawe National Park”

This is a beautiful private bungalow a short walk from the main house in a landscaped garden. It was spacious and well appointed. The meals were deliciously prepared, generous in size, and are served on the rear balcony where you can look for wildlife and listen to the call of the animals and birds. The bathroom was modern and spacious, there was no hot water when we were there but we asked for a thermos of boiling water and a bucket and managed a good wash - hot water is being organised soon. There were travel adapters and USB plugs supplied in all the power points which was an excellent idea. The wifi was good. The owner was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and arranged our safari at the nearby Udawalawe National Park.

One of the nicest, if not THE nicest, place I have been to in Sri Lanka so far. Would definitely recommend 👍🏽🌞

“Amazing spot for a Sri Lanka nature getaway -welcoming host, incredible homemade food, very peaceful”

We had an incredible stay here! It was our first stop in Sri Lanka, and such a welcoming place to land. Isuru was an amazing host -- he is kind and helpful. He would check in on us to be sure we had what we needed, and then leave us to enjoy the peace of the beautiful home. The food was amazing. The five curries for dinner was our favorite, and ended up being our favorite meal of our whole Sri Lanka trip. The breakfasts were also lovely, with homemade Sri Lankan pancakes, omelettes, and really fresh fruit. The cottage is in a very peaceful area, so relaxing to be in the middle of the jungle. We were thrilled to see peacocks out back one morning. The cottage is simple, but just as expected -- basic bathroom with shower, bottled water provided, really comfortable bed. We loved waking up to the view of the trees outside.

“Great location and great service”

Very private and immersed in nature. Very clean, comfortable bed. You can hear the animals from the park (many birds and also elephants), many stars to gaze at night. The owner makes every effort to make you feel at home, he also gave me a complimentary young coconut to taste at my arrival. The place is a 10-minute jeep ride from the park entrance.

“Wonderful stay”

We were the only cottage, very private, great location in the jungle watching wildlife. Hosts couldn’t do anymore for us, gave us a ride to viewpoint, sorted our guide and jeep for safari. Moms cooking on our terrace was fab too 👍

“Unforgettable food and great hospitality!”

We stayed at Milk House Cottage for one night and can highly recommend it. The owner is very welcoming and leaves nothing to be desired. We had an outstanding dinner in the jungle and a great breakfast as well. We went on a safari early in the morning and the owner got even earlier to make sure everything went smoothly, that we found our way in the dark and didn't oversleep. We will definitely come back the next time we travel Sri Lanka.

“Paradise on earth”

Let me tell you this: I felt like a queen in a paradise. I was traveling as a single female and my concern was security. I felt absolutely secure since I've met Isuru - lovely young host with his wife and kid. These place is a GEM in Sri Lanka if you are looking for a peaceful place far from crowd surrounded by nature. I was very looked after, breakfast and dinner was delicious freshly prepared by the family. Isuru has a Tuk Tuk so he can help you arrange any travel you need for reasonable price. He also helped me with safari tour (I had the best guide with knowledge) and with the buses, he gave me a lift and stopped the fast bus for me and told a driver where to let me go. His hospitality and kindness was above expectations and that's why I gave a review 10 out of 10. Who cares about decorations inside the cottage when you just want to be outside admiring birds, plants, nature surroundings, etc... and come back to the cottage for a sleep. You have kettle with bottle of water, tea, coffee with cream and sugar there too. There is moscito net in good condition too. But the greatest: you have a cottage for yourself and you the only guest. There is no more cottages so the privacy is immaculate. There is a space for 2 :-D Originally I have a booking for 1 night, but I've extended since I've realised it's a paradise on earth for me. Cleanness 10/10 !!!

“Beautiful spot!”

This was a fabulous spot!! The owner was a truly delightful guy, nothing was too much trouble at all and he was very kind and accommodating. They made me a special dinner for being gluten free which was lovely and he got up very early to make breakfast for us to take on our Safari!! Was a cute place to stay, room was all you needed with lovely private terrace at the back. A nice quiet spot out the way but conveniently located for Udawalawe national park. Would definitely recommend!

“Beautiful peaceful nature cottage!”

This was a lovely place in a very quiet location next to paddy fields and a gorgeous forest and garden often visited by peacocks, which was truly special. Had my morning coffee observing the wildlife! The cottage is comfortable and the host Izuru is so helpful and kind. He organised a perfect well-priced safari for me with a guide who was very respectful of the animals and took me on the less crowded roads in Udawalawe park, which is what I had asked for. I stayed for two nights so I also had time to explore and walk to the neighbouring village, which was lovely. The hosts cooked great food for both breakfast and dinner and I got to try helapa for the first time too! I loved it there and I highly recommend a stay if you're looking for a peaceful and welcoming location!

“Amazing!”

Absolutely amazing! Wehere shell we start? First thing was a verry lovely welcome and he told us to park our Tucktuck under a roof, for it might rain. He offered to organise us a Safari for a really fair price. It was nor a problem that we spontaneously decided to have dinner there. Dinner and breakfast were just amazing! I would go so fare and say it is the best food we had in Sri Lanka so far. His wife and mother are great cooks! We enjoyed the food on our terrace with a awesome view! We were able to see all kind of beautiful birds. It is very quiet and you have a lot of privacy! It is obvious that he has a lot of experience with the hotel industry, everything was just perfect, the room was so clean and everything was taken care of. You probably think this sounds too nice, but truely, come and see yourself, just don't make the mistake we made and only book one night ;) Thanks for such a great stay, Steffi & Simon

Very very nice little cottage in the middle of nature. The host is a super friendly guy , he really cares about his guests. He organised for us an amazing safari in a very fair price! The home made traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner was just amazing !!!

We had the best stay at this lovely cottage in the wild Sri Lankan nature. A really nice cottage in the wild with the loveliest hosts. We really liked reconnecting to nature. The bed was great and the food (breakfast, curry) even better. To top it off Isuru booked us a really nice safari (with pick up at the cottage) and we saw a lot of wild animals Would definately recommend this stay!!
