We stayed in a balcony room which was spacious and clean. Greeted by lovely staff who assisted with our safari bookings and even took us out for an afternoon sunset drive. Great home cooked meal from the hosts family, beautiful service.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lizard Safari Lodge! One of the highlights of our visit was the incredible safari experience at Udawalawe National Park. The host arranged everything seamlessly at a very reasonable price, and National park entrance fee has a discounted ticket price for Indian passport holders, which was a lovely thing. The safari itself was unforgettable — our driver was knowledgeable and patient, making sure we didn’t miss anything. We were lucky enough to spot almost all the animals the park is known for, which made the experience even more special. Coming to the food, it was simply outstanding. We enjoyed a delicious rice and curry meal with a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, each one flavorful and perfectly prepared. Truly one of the best meals we had during our trip! The stay was calm, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing — just what you need after a day of adventure. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. The host and his wonderful family went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They were genuinely caring, attentive, and always ready to help, without the slightest hesitation. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Udawalawe — it’s not just a stay, it’s an experience!

“An ideal short-stay bolt -hole for our safari base.”

A cute little lodge in a private family run property, hidden away, so nice and quiet. Facilities are simple but perfectly adequate for our two nights. Safari arranged for us two, with a great driver who clearly had in-depth knowledge of all the animals and very good English. Dinner was amazing! ( why do they call it rice n curry? When there’s so much more to it!) This was a small bowl of meat(bone-in) and six lovely vegetable curries- delicious, and very good value, served promptly and cheerfully by the lady of the house.

Good place to go for the safari. It's an open, tent like room with moskito nets. Perfect for the local climate. The host is really nice

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The property was very fitting to the surroundings and made you feel like being in the jungle. Thanks for making our Sri Lanka trip special. It was lovely to meet you. The breakfast was delicious and sets you up for the day. Would highly recommend if staying in udawalawa for a safari experience.

The owners were pretty helpful. I dont agree with any of the comments like they started to behave differently when you dont book safari tour with them.

Brilliant location, off the main road leading to the park, so it took only 15 mins ti get to safari early in the morning. Top room has trea house feel and it was really cool ti hear the sounds. No funny bugs in the room by the way. The staff were amazing, they organised really good safari guide with geep for us. In the evening one of the guys took my friend to get a takeaway on his own motorbike. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

The accommodation was perfect. We were even able to change rooms without any problems and the family who owned it was very nice. They kept looking after our son so that we could eat in peace. It's really worth stopping there and enjoying the extraordinary hospitality. Simply top!
