Excellent location in Udawalawa, just off the main road and only a short drive to both the safari gate and the Elephant Transit Home. The bungalows were clean, spacious, and beautifully designed in a safari style. The gorgeous outdoor bathroom even had its own tree! I have to confess that the outdoor bathroom was one of the main reasons I booked this property, and it definitely did not disappoint. The pool was clean and the surrounding grounds were very well maintained. We did not have breakfast as we were leaving early for safari, but they prepared a simple takeaway for us. I am vegetarian, and they made a special effort to prepare a separate meal for dinner especially for us, which was delicious and very much appreciated. The host/manager was a genuinely kind and thoughtful gentleman. He organised a tuk-tuk for us to visit the local shops and the Elephant Transit Home, which I highly recommend. They do amazing work there. Don’t skip the indoor information area, which explains more about elephants, the reasons many become orphaned, and the conservation work being done to help these beautiful creatures live alongside their human neighbours. He also arranged a fantastic private jeep safari for us at a very reasonable price. We saw many elephants (including babies), crocodiles, exotic birdlife, and much more. I would highly recommend this accommodation as a memorable and special part of your Udawalawa experience.

One of the most beautiful stay experiences I’ve ever had was at Hantara Udawalawa Hotel ❤️ First of all, I have to mention the environment of this hotel. The surroundings are incredibly peaceful, giving you a true connection with nature. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind, away from the noise of the city. 🌊 Pool Experience The swimming pool here is absolutely clean and very attractive. The water is crystal clear and well maintained. Spending time by the pool in the evening feels so calm and refreshing. It’s also a perfect spot for taking beautiful photos 😍 🍽️ Food & Drinks The food is simply amazing! There’s a great variety of both local and western dishes. Everything is fresh, delicious, and served with great presentation. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all very satisfying. The drinks are also perfectly prepared—great for relaxing and enjoying your time 🍹 👨‍🍳 Staff & Service A special mention goes to the staff. They are extremely friendly, respectful, and always ready to help. You can clearly see the effort they put into making guests feel comfortable. It was very close to Udawalawa- clean comfortable, decent shower. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Lovely little pool area, perfect for a swim after safari. Good home cooked food.

Heavenly place in the middle of the national park

“Jungle oasis”

Big communal pool, it’s a hidden little jungle oasis with beautiful gardens. The cutest puppy lives here too. Staff were lovely! Great location for getting to your safari.

Location for the Udawalawe park. Spacious bedroom. Great food. Spotless, warm swimming pool. Gracious, very accommodating hosts. They organised a bespoke Jeep with experienced driver/guide to take us around the park - complete with breakfast! Look no further if you are visiting this area!

“Impecable”

We had the most magical 1-night stay at Hantara Udawalawe — honestly the best stay of our entire Sri Lanka trip! From arrival to departure everything was absolutely perfect. The staff took such incredible care of us and made us feel truly welcome. The room was stunning and spotless, and the pool area was beautiful and very relaxing. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and well maintained. The dinner was incredible — easily one of the best curries we had in Sri Lanka. Every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with a lot of care. A very special thank you to Niranga, who works there. He is such a kind and wonderful person and truly one of the best hosts you could wish for. We had great conversations with him and he helped us with everything we needed during our stay. We also booked our safari through the accommodation, which was a 10/10 experience. We saw so many different animals — far more than just elephants — and our guide made sure we had an amazing time. He explained every animal we saw and told us their names, which made the experience even better. The hotel even prepared a breakfast package for us to take on the safari, which was such a thoughtful touch. Other highlights: • Super fast WiFi • Laundry service was excellent and very quick Overall, this was an absolutely unforgettable stay and we would highly recommend Hantara Udawalawe to anyone visiting the area. We would come back in a heartbeat!

“Wonderful location, incredible safari, the loveliest staff”

We stayed for 2 nights so we could safari in the national park. We were unsure of whether to do the 4 or 6 hour safari arranged by the accommodation, we were advised to do the 6 hour and are so glad we did this as we had a great experience. We wouldn’t have been able to see as many animals and get as far into the park if we’d only been there for 4 hours. The jeep arranged by the accommodation was brilliant, we had a very knowledgeable guide who had a great eye for sighting animals. The staff throughout were fully focused on guest experience.

Very warm welcome. Excellent service by a very professionnel team, making the stay of 2 full days very comfortable. They helped us with the laundry, tuk tuk transport, safari, recommandations for complementary activities.... Very tasteful breakfast and dinner. Very relaxing environment. This stay was also well adapted to our family with 2 children.
