Fantastic stay in a beautiful self contained villa with its own shaded veranda and separate covered outdoor eating area. Amazing home cooked food. Very reasonably priced . Our host arranged a brilliant safari with a local guide/driver, who collected us from the homestay. Fully recommend going for the full day safari and staying here 2 nights to enjoy the tranquility. On the full day safari you get right away from the other jeeps in the park and we saw loads. The homestay packed us both a fantastic picnic breakfast and lunch to eat in the park. Dinner on both nights was amazing, great variety of authentic Sri Lankan dishes (and non spicy as requested as I am rather feeble with spice/chilli!!) Highly recommend this accommodation.

No words to explain how welcoming the host family was! The location is perfect if you need to go on safari, the room is big, really clean with AC and warm water! The bed is really big and super comfortable. We had an amazing home made dinner , with real local Sri Lanka food ! Si ce the moment we had the safari at 5:30 in the morning they prepared us the breakfast “to go” in a big box, was amazing eating it inside the national park, and of course it was delicious! Thank you a lot for the best stay we had in Sri Lanka.

The room was very clean and well-kitted and had everything we needed and beyond - lovely welcome drinks, fruit and teas - but the best thing was the hosts who were incredibly kind and helpful, and made our stay extra special for our honeymoon - going the extra mile from the welcome to the dinner setup to the food and dessert. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

Clean, well equipped modern cottage. USB charging ports  on both sides of the bed. Remarkably delicious breakfast and dinner, even home made buffalo milk curd. Accommodation is run by a young man Dileepa with his mother and grandmother. Warm hospitality. Dileepa arranged us an excellent 3 hours morning jeep safari. This accommodation is highly recommended hidden gem. 

This is a wonderful homestay in Udawalawe. The hosts welcomed us not just as guests, but as friends. They offered and prepared an amazing dinner for us and also organized a fantastic safari with an experienced and professional driver. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We had a truly relaxing and memorable stay.

The little family was very friendly with us, they made us a delicious dinner and prepare all the staff for our safari so it was very confortable for us. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location is at approximatly at 10 minutes by car to the enter of the park. Its à good value for the money and nice to meet the friendly local family

This place was incredible, the family were extremely kind and attentive. The room is immaculate, comfortable and well equipped. We had dinner in the evening, home cooked Sri Lankan curries, it was the best meal we have had. Breakfast after safari was delicious. Cold towels and tea on arrival. Highly recommend to stay here!

“You can't miss this accommodation!!”

You really shouldn't miss this accommodation. The lady who welcomed us runs the accommodation together with her family. We were greeted with a drink made with fruit from the garden and everything was clean (the cleanest accommodation on the whole trip so far). She also organized a safari for us (which was also very warm and wonderful) and when we came back, we were served delicious tea. Dinner and breakfast were authentically Sri Lankan and completely natural, and both were absolutely amazing. We were really sorry that we only stayed there for one night and would have loved to stay longer. Thank you very much!

“Wonderful stay near Udawalawe natiinal park”

We loved the beautiful setting, the gorgeous welcome and the delicious home cooked food which not only accomadated my wifes gluten free dietry requirements, but was the most delicious sri lanka food we had eaten so far on our trip. The accomodation was so well thought through, very comfortable with a very comfortable bed, tea and coffee and air con. The bathroom had lovely touches with beautiful soaps. A lovely veranda to relax on in the evenings and a romantic private dining area. Dileepa was brilliant at communicating with us at every stage and was extremely kind and flexible when we needed to alter our dates due to the cyclone. Nothing was too much trouble they made sure we had a beautiful stay. We would certainly go back. Plus so close to Udawalawe if you fancy a safari!

“Delightful”

We stayed here just for one night after going for safari. Dileepa and her son were so kind and hospitable, and couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy and comfortable during our stay. The room is built right next to their own home, and it was nice to be surrounded by other locals in the neighborhood, so didn't feel at all touristy. The room was very clean and smelled lovely, and breakfast was excellent and plentiful. There was a power shower but we didn't use it as there was a regular shower with good water pressure, and the towels were very nice and soft! They also prepared a beautiful dinner for us for only 2,300 rupees each, and there was so much food! We were greeted with fresh delicious juice on arrival and lots of water and even some fresh coconuts for the road when we left. They were also kind enough to arrange a driver for us to take us to Arugam Bay.

“Most perfect authentic stay for the safari 🙏☺️”

This was by far our favourite stay in Sri Lanka! It’s a really authentic experience with the most lovely, welcoming family, they really go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. The room was so clean, and towels and bed linen smelt really fresh. It was also really spacious with air con and hot water working perfectly. You definitely cannot miss them cooking your dinner as it was the best food we have had! Also made us a packed breakfast for the safari which was really good. They booked us the most amazing private safari at a very reasonable price (beyond safari udawalawa on trip advisor). They also sorted our taxi to and from udawalawe which was on time and and again very reasonable prices. Overall, please stay here for your safari and support this lovely family who really care for their guests 🙏☺️ Please note there are some very cheap hotels in udawalawe for as little as $2, but charge a lot more for the safari so I would definitely recommend Dew safari cottage instead which works out cheaper!!

“Most personal and best experience we had in our whole time in Sri Lanka”

we were utterly pleased by the kindness with which we were welcomed. the room was really spacious and clean and the water pressure was excellent! we would have loved to stay for some more nights and would come back any time! If you are doing a safari in udawalawe you definitely need to book this place!! they even set up the safari tour for us! also definitely take the opportunity to have dinner at their place! Thakshila‘s mom is the best cook in the whole wide world! only minus point is that your tummy is gonna hurt as the food is soooo good you just cant stop eating and there are so many options to try from! also breakfast was absolutely delicious and prepared with so much love!

Our stay at Dew Safari Cottage was a highlight of our trip. The cottage was very comfortable and clean, the dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the hospitality was outstanding! Our hosts also helped us arrange a good Safari trip.
