“An out of the way, back to nature stay”
This is a remote place set in the middle of nature. It’s quite a way from the central part of Udawalawe and there is little around it. It’s best reached by Tuktuk (bumpy ride though) or 4x4 - our car couldn’t make it all the way to the entrance when we arrived. If you love nature, disconnecting from the world and want to experience jungle life then this is the place for you. The hosts are lovely people and very accommodating. Their kids are cheeky in a fun way and their lovely dogs roam the site - one in particular, being very affectionate, spent the night on the porch “on guard” (we wanted to take her home!). In April, one had had a little of puppies and they were so cute! The site is full of trees with a small river running through it. The treehouse is fun but very, very basic and people who don’t want to “be at one with nature” should probably avoid. It’s very much a rustic build and you will get bugs, lizards (we think) and even the odd bat getting inside. Beds are comfortable (with mosquito nets above - very much required) and the bathroom very basic. The host’s food is incredible - dinner was outstanding, traditional food. We stayed 2 nights and that was enough for us - there’s little in the local area to do apart from the safari and elephant transit home. Worth noting that the pool is filled, naturally from the river so whether it’s filled is dependent on the weather. Don’t expect a crystal clear, chemical filled pool here - it’s natural and may contain frogs (which was kinda fun). Safari arranged by the host was fantastic.

“Once in a lifetime, literally.”
You definitely get what you pay for. It‘s an experience. You stay with the locals and really get in touch with them. The place is next to the jungle and really beautiful, with a small river and lots of animals (also mosquitos - bring a good spray). The dinner was really very good, with rice from the ricefield next door - just delicious! The owner also organised a safari for us, what we appreciated.

“Amazing place!”
They are a very nice and lovely family. I felt very welcome from the beginning. Great treatment and so helpful, they managed the Safari Tour and nice home cooked meals. It's a totally calm place in the forest and feels very peaceful, surrounded by nature.

“Great rural experience with a wonderful family”
This was by far our most memorable and special stay on our family holiday to Sri Lanka. If you’re looking for a couple of days in a simple, rustic, Sri Lankan village with the loveliest family and in a beautiful location this is the place for you! Don’t expect luxury - but this will be nourishing and interesting in a meaningful way. Prabat and his family are incredibly kind and made us feel so well cared for and at home. As soon as we arrived Prabat’s son took us down to the river for a swim, a short walk away and through gorgeous landscape. The dinner was absolutely outstanding and we were served in a wooden pavilion that Prabat built himself (as he did the treehouse too!). We went to the national park the following day, all arranged by Prabat (50GBP per adult, half price for under 12) and it was a great experience- loads of elephants, birds and other animals. The nearby towns are bustling and while basic, have some good lunch spots and local amenities.

Here you get the full local experience:) it is in the middle of nature! The selfbuilt hut where you have breakfast, lunch and dinner is amazing! The food was also very good ( I had to eat glutenfree and they adapted everything to that). They are a very kind family :)

“A Unique Stay to be at One with Nature”
One of my absolute favourite spots I stayed in Sri Lanka 🛺🌴🐘🐒🇱🇰 Prabath and his sister run this stunning, remote lodge where you can stay in the unique Treehouse, which sleeps 3 or they double rooms near the main house. Prabath kindly organised our safari at a great rate and we were picked up from the resort. When we got home we had a fantastic dinner cooked by his sister, it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend staying here as it’s a truly wonderful place to chill and listen to the nature all around you 🌴🐒🌴

“Lovely unique stay”
The family were so lovely and helpful. We loved the unique location and monkeys swinging in the trees right outside the treehouse. I celebrated my birthday here and they made me a wonderful surprise birthday cake and sang happy birthday, really sweet. I would definitely recommend but expect basics and not creature home comforts.

Pafa and his wife were wonderful! The place is stunning and the food is one of the best ones I have tried in SRI LANKA! There is a lake to swim nearby, beautiful banyan trees and they can help you out with the safari arrangements. Before you accept safari arrangements, just make sure the communication is clear as we had a misunderstanding with the price of the safari and that ruined a little bit of the Safari experience. Check the price of the entrance and how much they are charging you for the car and driver! The rest was all wonderful! I will recommend this place to anyone that wants to visit Udawalawe National Park! The tree house was a nice experience :)!

Have been here twice. Will come back. Very nice and chill location. Jungle all arounf you. The bungalow is very clean and large. No problem with mosquitoes at night. The owner is a super helpful and charming. He showed us around his farm and helped us book our safari. The best of all is the food they serve. Traditionell (mostly vegetarian) sti lankan food. It was a good experience all round.
