i chose this place after comparing it with another option on booking.com, mainly because of its stronger reviews across platforms. in hindsight, i wish i hadn't. i arrived late and, as often happens, the person i had been communicating with on whatsapp was not there. instead, i was checked in by staff who seemed very young, spoke no english and handled things with little sense of urgency. it set the tone: slow, disorganized, and not particularly welcoming after a long day of travel. the room itself was problematic in several ways. it is located directly next to the staircase: so close that stepping out requires immediate attention to avoid the drop. as expected, this meant constant noise from people going up and down. combined with very thin walls and a building that feels generally worn down, there was no sound insulation. the room was also extremely small, with barely enough space to move around the bed. the windows were old and didn’t close. despite a supposed quiet time after 11pm, there was loud activity from staff late into the night. when i reacted to the noise, the situation escalated in an unexpected way: instead of addressing the disturbance, the owner called to complain about me 'making noise' and potentially waking other guests, when i was telling them to shut up! this was particularly frustrating given the circumstances. attempts to discuss the room issues,especially the windows, were consistently avoided. requests for any form of compensation were dismissed and the conversation was repeatedly deflected with reassurances like 'no one else has complained' and suggestions that i was overreacting. i was told i could change rooms the next morning, though it was implied that this would come at a higher cost. after a sleepless night, i went to check the other accommodation i had originally considered, located about 650m away.

Very good location! Mahen was very helpful and professional, arranged early check-in, assisted with purchasing tickets and shared all valuable places to check out.

Location perfect but service slow

Absolutely amazing stay. For the price I paid, I felt so welcomed, had so much fun and made amazing memories. I went on a food tour with the hostel around the area which allowed me to explore the area with others and try local food. Beds had curtains and the view from the rooftop and common area is phenomenal. Such good value for money. The staff are kind and helpful, would recommend!

It was my first solo trip i had my best time there at tamasha staff and volunteers were too good it was affordable and rooms were clean

It felt like a scam. Drinking water at 5th floor (yes you read it right) you came hostel after roaming entire day and then climb 5 floors to drink water ! No body wash, no hand wash, no toilet paper. Dirty water running out in the room from bathroom. Tiny water geaser in the bathroom which heats total 5 tumblers of water, then wait for another 15 mins. Its a pure scam. Worst hostel I have ever been too! Edited : people over 30 please watch before booking this arrogant woman can call you Auntie if you complain abt some basic common amenities. I called her out for very basic common sense things for which her ego got so hurt that she started calling me out as Aunty. Beware before booking. She can be really very rude n mean as you can read from her response given to negative review. She has absolutely no explanation for the complaints, her meltdown is so severe that she starts calling anyone who complains as Auntie. Epic lol

Location is convenient and great

There was no elevator and I specifically asked for a room to a lower floor as I was visiting with my mom but they gave me 3rd floor. It was a hostel and it nowhere mentioned on the booking.com. I could see the lake view but the building is located in a very narrow and smelly alley. Their reception was very dirty so I requested to see the room as my flight was delayed I informed them but the room was not ready and I had to wait at 10.30PM in the night. As I paid half amt in advance they asked before I arrive they told me I can save my taxes if I cancel my booking from booking.com but I denied. The room, blanket, towels were not clean and smelled. Mainly there were no facilities in the room except the geyser. Also the washroom was not clean. I felt like I was scammed. I told them and canceled it for 2 days. Also, as it was the hostel the people used to play music until 3 in the night, we couldn't even rest well. I dont know why booking has listed such a property with 8 rating it is not even 5. I had a really bad experience.
