Imagine waking up in the heart of a vineyard, whilst the grapes are being harvested. The sun shines in through your window and in the distance you see the snow capped Andes mountains, the imposing Cordon de La Plata, the Tupungato Volcano... you are in a picture postcard of Mendoza's famous Malbec wine region. I have never been closer to wine than this. The house is beautiful, authentic and has everything you need for a delightful stay. Three couples fit comfortably in the three bedrooms - we were two families each with 2 year olds and had everything we needed. I made an asado (BBQ) each evening with my friend and we all drank the wines we had found that day. On our final night we celebrated with a bottle of Estela Perinetti's Grand Vin, there where it was made. On the food front there's plenty of pre-prepared food (empanadas milanesas etc....) and places to eat close by in the Town of Tupungato. If you like cooking yourself, the fruits and vegetables available locally are delicious. So many people choose to stay in fancy hotels in Mendoza city and travel out to the Uco Valley each day with personal drivers or in wine tour vans. Be brave, hire a car. The roads are straight, people drive well and it's not very difficult to get lost, especially with Google maps. If you do, you are a stones through away from people making exciting wines that have created great visitor experiences. And there's so much to do for the more adventurous!
