“Superb authentic Japanese ryokan”

Everything. If you want to stay in a traditional japanese ryokan the you will not find a better one than this. The facilities are excellent and so comfortable. We stayed in the 16 tatami room and were wowed at the space, the style and the comfort whilst providing all the necessities for modern day living, e.g. a/c, tv, Internet. We on dinner, bed and breakfast package and we were blown away by the quality and range of dishes we had. The hosts. Keith and family were very gracious and could not be hospitable. Located just a 3 minute walk from the station was the icing on the cake. We would highly recommend Hoshi ryokan without hesitation.

The kind welcome by the host, the thoughtful additions (I won't spoil the surprises!), the exceptional food (one of our hosts prepared fabulous food!). Our room was large and comfortable, with beautiful things to admire. You will be impressed with the Son"s calligraphy! An absolute joy to be welcomed so warmly.

Perfectly situated opposite the train station and at the beginning of Tsuwano’s run of historic streets. This house has a lovely vibe about it fusing as it does the beautiful classical Japanese Ryokan architecture and rooms with vibrant, sometimes quite kitsch/ cool decor. Keiko-san and her son were wonderful, generous hosts and the food was great!

Amazing tatami rooms with comfy futon beds. Breakfast was amazing and our room was very spacious. It was seperate in two in a living room and sleeping room. Staff were very kind.

this is the best property i stayed at in all my travels in japan on this trip. the owners were hospitable, generous and welcoming. the room was big and i was served a japanese breakfast and dinner which was superb. its location was good too. around the corner from Tsuwano station.

Very clean, very peaceful, the staff were always were up and about wanting to help out with anything! The most loveliest people!

We had a wonderfull time in Hoshi Ryokan!!! We had a very friendly welcome and even got picked up at the station although it is just 2 minutes to walk. Everything was clean and we had a very nice and big japanese room. The food was delicious and our special wishes (no fish 🤣) were fullfilled. Everybody here was so friendly!!!Thank you so much!!!!!

A beautiful place to stay and a charming host. She looked after us so well, keeping the place spotless everywhere and helped us get to an evening cultural performance in the town.

Spacious tatami room in a ryokan in Tsuwano. It is conveniently located around 1 minute’s walk from Tsuwano Station with restaurants and shops also nearby. Breakfast and dinner were great, and the staff are very welcoming and helpful, letting me know about a local Iwami kagura performance during my stay.

“Cosy traditional guesthouse in Tsuwano”

Our host Keiko met us at Tsuwano station and walked us over to the family-run guesthouse just across the train station. Clean and comfortable rooms - perfect for those looking for a traditional experience complete with tatami flooring and futons for sleeping. The shared bathroom on the ground floor wasn't a problem since we were the only guests staying for the night. A traditional kaiseki style dinner and breakfast were served, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

There is nothing not to like at Hoshi Ryokan, if you like traditional Japanese houses. Large room with a living room and a separate sleeping area in a traditional house not over-renovated, loads of character and absolutely excellent food (we stayed 2 nights and had breakfast and evening meal twice). Very close to the station. Highly recommended.

Hoshi Ryokan is so good that staying there justifies the trip to Tsuwano all by itself. An immense tatami room (actually two, a bedroom and a sitting room) plus a veranda to sit and watch the world go by. The owners are extremely gentle and helpful (they picked us up from the station even if it is only just across the road, just because it was raining so hard) and the breakfast and dinner are well worth having, and not only because there are few other options in town. And you stay in a real family home, the way B&B used to be.
