Overview
Set 1800 metres above sea level in Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, Nisshinkan features 9 hot-spring baths. These include public indoor and outdoor and private reservable baths. All rooms overlook the surrounding mountains. Each spacious room has Western beds and a Japanese-style seating area with tatami floor and flat-screen TV. Yukata robes and green tea are provided in the room. The dining room offers a buffet-style breakfast and dinner, both including hot and cold dishes. A drinks vending machine is available. Facilities include karaoke, massages and a 24-hour front desk. Manza Onsen ski slope is 650 metres away and the hotel provides a ski school with ski storage. Mount Shirane, an active volcano with crater lake, is 5 km away. Manza Kazawaguchi Station is a 45-minute drive from Hotel Nisshinkan and Karuizawa Station is 53 km away. There is free parking on-site.

The baths are outstanding. The temperature is perfect. The outside baths are great. Amazing location and experience. There is a good range of baths. The nightly jazz concert is fantastic. The quality of the performances is very high. The best in Japan come to perform. The food is great. The buffet has an amazing selection. One of the staff members, Izumi, helped us find a clinic in Tokyo we could visit to see a doctor, and we appreciate her assistance.

Rooms was incredibly hot, told to open windows, but sulpher fumes were strong. Each of us had headaches in middle of night.

“Relaxing onsen soak”
The sulphur onsen. The place is high up in the mountains and is very relaxing and chill. The outdoor bath located a little way away from the main building provides a nice view and a nice hot soak. The buffet style meals are tasty and there are a wide variety to choose from.

“Like a dream”
Baths are like something from a dream - perfect temperature, beautiful views, the outdoor bath in the snow was particularly incredible. Staff are also extremely friendly and many native English speakers are employed for those who can’t speak Japanese.
