El Mirador de las Monjas is located in Trujillo’s Old Town, next to the Trujillo Castle. This quiet hotel has a restaurant with a terrace with views over the Extremaduran countryside. Very clean, comfortable and well designed property overlooking the main attraction of the town the imposing Alcazaba. It has a lovely restaurant and we enjoyed a delicious dinner which was also very good value. The views from the terrace behind the hotel are spectacular.

“Great overnight in historic town.”
A lovely room with all amenities necessary and comfortable beds. It took a little while for the room to warm up as it was in the middle of winter. The location is fantastic, right under the castle ruin and on top of the hill overlooking the beautiful old town square. But, as in many Spanish hill towns, this comes at the price of having to manoeuvre the car through very narrow cobbled streets and not being sure whether or not one will be required to reverse. But our satnav worked surprisingly well and we succeeded. At the end we had to ring at the owner's door and he showed us where the parking was. It is right behind the house, just below the castle, it is just not immediately obvious if you've never been there. Turjillo itself is a lovely small historic town and the house is right in the historic part. We had breakfast and the friendly host offered us a choice of tostadas with a beverage of our choice, which set us up for our next trip. Monfrague park is not far and is worth a visit, not just for the landscape, but for the vultures and other birds of prey.
