Everything!! Where to start!! Firstly…. the hosts were exceptional Marjet and Herman. They are an incredibly lovely, relaxed and friendly couple where nothing is too much trouble. The Chateau is where they live discreetly but effectively open it up for the guests to use as you wish just like your own home. It’s perched on the top of a hill with lovely grounds and views to die for. Basically everything in the house from the laundry to the kitchen is there for the guests. You may use their kitchen to cook if desired but there is a kitchen in the front of the house with bar area, tea and toffee making facilities, biscuits to enjoy and a fridge. The fridge has cold drinks ranging from iced tea, mineral and tonic water, cordials as well as beer and wines….. free of charge for the guests to enjoy. Be it a drink by the pool or on the terrace with exceptional views of Marciac and the Pyrenees. There was also red wine. To enjoy your appetitive small jars of salty nuts provided. The house was exceptional the rooms very comfortable and tastefully decorated and very peaceful. Breakfast was delicious a continental breakfast including meat and cheese. We were cycling so walked into the town which was a pleasant 2 km walk or so through a forest trail and vineyard. We were there for the jazz festival so Marciac was alive but it would still be a fascinating place to visit out of those times

“Our second wonderful stay at Chateau de la Biste!”

This is our 2nd visit. We returned because of the beautiful place and the owners who are very special. Breakfast is super...best coffee I have had all summer and lots of wonderful summer fruit. The pool is refreshing and there are many places to sit and relax and view the extraordinary scenery of mountains and the lake below. My favorite place was under the big mulberry tree (where some of those mulberries got turned into a mulberry tart!). Herman and Marget really go out of their way to make sure you are welcome and comfortable.

“A welcoming haven of easy going tranquility”

The hosts, Marjet and Hermann are wonderful lovely people who made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped out of the car. The property is located on a ridge above a lake with the most amazing views of Marciac and beyond to the Pyrenees. The panorama is breathtaking. The house itself is majestic, very well appointed and set in a large garden of lawns and a wide species of trees.The Mulberry by the swimming pool is particularly amazing. Our room and ensuite were very nice with a balcony overlooking the gardens and Marciac beyond. Very comfortable. Breakfast is freshly prepared each morning with the perfect items you would expect from a top quality continental breakfast. And Hermann is very laid back about what time you arrive to eat. A real bonus if you've had a late night! Finally, I come back to the hosts as they are the major reason why our stay was so memorable. They opened up their home to us and nothing is too much trouble for them. They have the gift of making guests feel as though we are staying with friends and not in a hotel. And we certainly feel as though we have met new friends. I can highly recommend Chateau de la Biste.

To attend the jazz concerts in Marciac, this is a perfect setting. 2 Km from the city but you are in the middle of the sunflowers and vineyards. So relaxing and pleasant. The hosts go out of the way to make your stay comfortable and easy. The breakfasts are divine...and wonderful aperitifs each day. I left my kindle in the room and Herman sent it the same day!
