Location on the water perfect

Great welcome from the moment we arrived at La Pavona to get the boat to Tortuguero. Andrés is an excellent host. We had an amazing view and balcony over the lagoon. The room is just like the picture. He helped sort out the tours we chose to do, and we could also borrow rubber boots and waterproof ponchos. Easy access to restaurants and supermarket and also next to national park and the beach.

Fantastic location on the river front. Very helpful, friendly staff and the guide was very knowledgeable and keen to share his knowledge. The accommodation was simple, but met all our needs. We would recommend a stay here.

Our stay was fabulous. Such a great location and staff couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay. The room was ideal for us as a family and was right in the heart of tortuguero. The trips they offer are also fantastic. We did the combination of canoeing, hiking the Jaguar trail with a guide and seeing the turtles nesting. We saw so much wildlife and all the guides were really knowledgable. Highly recommend staying here.

“A great choice for Tortuguero”

A great place to stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home. They offered great tours and I can highly recommend their services. The room was spacious and comfortable and the outside area offered fabulous views of the river. The boat from La Pavona will drip you off at the guesthouse jetty so you don't have any trouble with luggage etc. Close to the national park entrance and to all the bars and restaurants in town.

“A wonderful, magical property and location. We would love to return.”

We loved this place. The tours, guided by Cristian, were great and the staff were all friendly. We did 3: a day tour, a night tour and a canoe tour. Our room was large and comfortable and had a fridge which was very convenient. The kitchen, which we were able to use, had a microwave and kettle. The best thing was the large terrace directly outside our room which overlooked the river/lake. We could have sat there for hours watching life on the river. There were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance.

The locations is fantastic, views from balcony amazing - watching the boats and the birds is so relaxing. Bed super comfy. Could arrange adventures direct from property with excellent guide Hector. Close to the Jaguar Trail. A warm welcome from all the staff and Emmanuel was especially helpful even seeking us out to check we had our transfer sorted, helped with pass for National Park etc. Really handy location for sodas, restaurants, bars etc.

Very friendly helpful staff. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Great value.

“Perfect location in Tortuguero”

The best part of this property was the balcony/terrace. You could sit here all day and night watching the boats go buy and the sunset. It would have been perfect if there were comfortable chairs on the balcony but we realise nowhere in Costa Rica have comfortable seats! The room was large, staff were very helpful and we did some great tours with knowledgeable guides.

The whole thing. The staff were all amazing. The tours and all the adventures were great and value for money 💰. I would go back in a heart beat.

The stay at the tortuguero guesthouse was definitely really nice. Also the organized tours worked really well. The location is beautiful and nearby restaurants are delicious. The only problem was the night club, that was really loud every night ( we were there for a long weekend). I can’t say how it is on weekdays, but during our stay it was too much for us - even with noice canceling headphones it was hard to sleep.

“Clean and comfortable - great for tours”

Comfortable, clean and convenient. Fabulous view of the river from our room. The real positive aspect of this place was the convenience and quality to the tours. We took two tours which were led by friendly, knowledgeable and interesting guides. Also reasonably priced. Highly recommend taking their tours.

Staff were great. Very cool, reassuring and helpful. Decent room for a family, with lovely view. Very convenient, especially for doing the tours they offered, which were very good.
