The hotel is located in a picturesque town with a unique atmosphere, right in the heart of the national park and surrounded by Costa Rica’s beautiful natural scenery. Our room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The hotel offers assistance in transporting luggage from the boat to the hotel, as well as the option to book tours on-site. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was also flawless, and we were always able to get the information we needed.

Wow - this guest house is fabulous. Cooper was so brilliant in coordinating the parking and ferry (and return) as well as sorting an agenda of wonderful tours. Clean and spacious rooms, all of the team are amazing - a must stay!!

“Best hotel staff”

The staff make this place great - they are so friendly and can't do enough to help you. From meeting us at the boat with ponchos and to help with luggage, to giving advice about local walks, booking the return boat, and just generally being interested in us, they made us feel really welcome. Everyone seems happy to be there. The room was big, comfortable and clean and the location is really handy for all the local restaurants, cafés, shops etc and the dock.

Karol was very responsive and made very good arrangements for us. Everyone working there is very friendly and always looking out for guests’ comfort. Upon our arrival and after a long activity they were quick to give us a glass of juice. They constantly clean the public area and rooms, so always spotless.

Great location only 5 minutes walk from town. Hotel arranged all the tours and lent us raincoats, wellies and binoculars. Staff are so friendly and polite. Food was delicious. Room was the cleanest ever!! Sitting on the balcony was lovely in the morning watching monkeys and birds. I would recommend Bar Buddha for drinks and food.

The people are great. Very efficient, friendly and helpful. Huge room. Comfortable bad and good bedding/mattress. Food is copious and delicious. There’s a colony of Montezuma Oropendolas nesting only metres away. Wonderful to see.

“Fantastic stay, great wildlife and exceptional staff.”

Right in the heart of Tortuguero but very quiet with wildlife all around. Boat free access to the trails and restaurants. Easy to walk to the turtle sanctuary even though it was the wrong time of year for us. Staff were exceptional and even washed and dried our clothes and provided wellies and ponchos for the walks. Evening meal with a glass of wine was exceptional value and delicious. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the friendly staff never stopped cleaning. The receptionist even took one of the guests to hospital as they were unwell during their stay. Even though the trips were more expensive, they were well worth the price as we considered that Jonnie gave us an individual VIP tour of the area and wildlife. Fantastic knowledge. Cooper had great communication with us before our stay and organised the parking at La Pavona and boat transport. Can’t recommend them enough and have never stayed in a hotel like this before.

The staff were very friendly and helpful with good communication, assisting with transport and organising our fantastic boat tour with guide Johnny. The chilled water in the room fridge was a nice touch. Breakfast was prepared early for us on the day we left - we loved the huge wooden table in the communal area. We spent the evening watching the sunset over the river watching the boats zip up and down. We walked the full length of the Jaguar trail and saw so many different bird species.

Everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful and nice. Very nice breakfast (the pineapple juice was incredible). The bedroom had everything we needed and made us feel very comfortable.
