Overview
Set on the beach in Costa Rica’s Tortuguero National Park, El Icaco Tortuguero offer Caribbean Sea views from the common areas. You can observe the protected Green Turtle laying its eggs nearby. All rooms come with a fan and a terrace. There is a night stand and the private bathroom includes a shower and free toiletries. Hot water is provided 24 hours a day. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas and in some rooms. Hotel El Icaco Tortuguero boasts an outdoor pool located 200 metres from the property. Luggage storage and a laundry service are offered. The tour desk can organize various guided excursions, such as hiking or canal trips to see monkeys, caymans, sloths and other local fauna. The shuttle service from San José to Tortuguero, and from Tortuguero to San José has an extra cost.

“Disappointing”
The staff were friendly - when the manager discovered there had been a problem with our room since day one he refunded some money to us as it wasn’t fixed. However only the manager really speaks English so be prepared to use google translate if he is off & you don’t speak Spanish! Very close to the beach - but you can’t swim in the sea due to strong rip tides & bull sharks.

Its a 10 min walk from the boat dock and shops Has a lovely small pool which i couldnt wait to get in every day. Breakfast was limited but tasty . Our apartment which like another review the stairs are NOT steep . Loved it as you had amazing views of the caribbean sea. Which hear at night while you are sleeping .In the morning you hear lots of birds . Apartment was very comfortable. Nice area for eating and another settee to watch Tv .We just played music . Big fridge freezer .The Super king Size bed was soo comfortable in 1 room . Other room 2 single beds .Add everything you needed to make food. But we eat out as restuarants were so close. They do have street lights at night. We felt very safe walking back to hotel . Im really pleased i booked this Hotel as now ive stayed i know i made the right choice . I would love to stay here again if i ever get the chance to .

“Pura Vida!”
Great location - close to activities but far enough away from hustle and bustle. Right beside national park for walking - a wide range of activities on offer. Also right beside the beach

Lovely Caribbean no frill hideaway within easy walk anywhere in Tortuguero … next to the Atlantic ocean and the national park. The staff are very attentive and kind over and above their duties. We felt so very welcomed! The wildlife tours organised through the hotel were also excellent! Pura vida & thank you so very much!

Excellent stay! We had a wonderful stay at Hotel El Icaco. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and everything was perfectly maintained. The staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended – everything was excellent, and we would gladly come back!

“Great place to stay in Tortuguero”
The location is perfect for walking straight out onto the beach at sunrise and sunset. It´s also one of the closest accommodations to the start of the Jaguar walking trail and nightly Turtle watching tours. The staff who serve the breakfast are very friendly. The onsite restaurant was open for lunch and dinner. There was a representative from the hotel at the boat dock when I first arrived in Tortuguero to walk with me to the hotel which was very helpful to find it quickly.

“Treasure in Tortuguero.”
We feel fortunate that we selected this property. Wonderful location with an inviting pool. Amazingly attentive and welcoming staff. The breakfast was excellent and included multiple choices.

“Great hotel”
The hotel is close to the beach. Around 3-4 minutes walk from the Tortuguero main street. Amazing staff and the room is very clean. Breakfast is great.

Extremely helpful staff taking care of me when having a 40C fever. Very flexible and helpful to arrange for rooms To be honest I can’t say much about location and amenities as I spend the full 3 days in bed
