Location is absolutely beautiful! It is on the riverbank of the canals of Tortuguero - please note this property is not in Tortuguero itself, but in a little village down the river called San Francisco - a 10-minute boat taxi will get you to Tortuguero, and there are multiple depatures of these each day. The family hosting this property are absolutely lovely and will really look after you! They showed much kindness and willingness to help. I'd happily stay here again :)

“Perfect place for a nature visit to Tortuguero”

The lodge is run by a family who is very welcoming and understand the balance between service and privacy. All questions are answered and Ana organized all the tours and activities for us. This is how we met Owen, their neighbor, and the guide that made our stay in Tortuguero truly special. We had 2 morning boat tours and he gave all the tips how to kayak the park by yourself (would recommend 10/10!) and to see baby turtles even out of season. Breakfast was served every morning at the requested time and was good. In this lodge you stay out of the tourist spot and would recommend for people seeking nature and a quiet place.

The lodging and property were great. Breakfast was perfect and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Airco did not work but we were directly offered a better room with working airco.

Fantastic hospitality from AnaRita and Jeff. Wonderful breakfast and beautiful staff. The lodge is In a spectacular setting surrounded by lush forest, tranquil river and hummingbirds, toucans, parrots and fly catchers who visit the garden on a regular basis. It's paradise. Trips to the local Cerro Tortuguero can be organised by a great local guide called Owen, also the national park and the turtle tour, all of which are a must to see whilst you are staying at the lodge. The rooms are exceptionally clean with hot running water and very comfortable beds. The WiFi is super as it's starlink. There are a few soda restaurants to eat in only a few minutes walk from the lodge with a good selection to choose from. I am so glad to have chosen this particular place to stay at and wish I could have stayed longer.

“Perfect place to relax”

The owner is exceptionally kind and patient :). She supported us to get our ride back to the mainland and organised a good guided trip. But where she went above and beyond was preparing a special thing for a special event and also helping me find my phone which I had lost somewhere in the village. It’s definitely somewhere I would consider going back to. It is clearly not high end accommodation but it is extremely clean and the rooms have great air conditioning. For the price it is unbeatable. We also saw a humming bird while there and a few frogs. It is a lovely place to just be and relax.

“Perfect location”

Ana Rita and her husband were amazing! They allowed us to use their facilities (fridge, cutlery, plates) and offered to dry any of our wet clothes for us as well as all the rooms being fitted with AC and safe for valuables. Very talkative and friendly. The hammocks were very comfortable and in an amazing location on the property overlooking the water and rainforest. They organised all our hikes/tours for us-having a private boat driver for us. We had the entire facility to our selves. For what we were wanting to was perfect! Basic but exactly what we expected and wanted for a rainforest experience. They spoke good English as well as the tour guides speaking very good English.

Everything! Calm, peaceful, very helpfull for all activities! This is a small hotel nearby all activities you can do in Tortuguero! The owner are really nice people, ready to share with you all the tips! Very clean! If you are looking for an authentic expériences and not so touristic one don't hesitate. Breakfast is good and I do recomend Bambu restaurant which is 5 min walking

The tour guide who was cooperating with chinitas Eco Lodge was amazing! We did two boat tours and a night walk and it was great - we highly recommend. We saw plenty of animals and learnt so much new stuff

This lodge is in a very nice location in the small town of San Francisco. The restaurant is next to the water. A nice place to hang around. They serve a nice breakfast in the morning. The owner and his wife are very nice and helpful. You have to get a boat back to the main town. It's part of its charm. We really enjoyed our stay.

Located in San Francisco, a quiet village a few kms north of the main town of Tortuguero which is very touristy. There were basically only 2 restaurant options in town (the lodge does not have a lunch/dinner restaurant, only breakfast). We tried both and they were both very good. Activities such as a boat ride in the canals south of Tortuguero, a visit to the beach to spot the turtles, ... can all be arranged at the lodge, they have their own guide (Owen) who has a quiet boat and guiding permit. You will have to buy the permit yourself to enter the national park via the SINAC website. Free WiFi was working fine, breakfast was perfectly ok and early (important for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts who like to go out at dawn).

Chinitas lodge is charming and in a beautiful spot right on the lake. We were welcomed with fresh pipa to drink and friendly service.
