“Peaceful and private homestay vibe with a personal, long lasting impression by the hosts”
I booked myself the twin share room and my favourite feature of the room besides the traditional tatami mats were that I had a generous space to organise my clothes. Great value for a single person! There were 2/3 working showers with great water pressure, and a recommendation of single use unlimited towels washed and dried provided by Tatsuo. The place was kept clean and tidy and had daily housekeeping between 10-4pm. The main highlight was Tatsuo and wife Yoshiko's hospitality and tourist recommendation. They welcomed me with warm energy and made me feel at home away from home.

Ryokan Nakadaya offers something genuinely valuable: warmth, kindness, and sincere hospitality. Tatsuo-san and Yoshiko-san were welcoming, attentive, and thoughtful, creating the feeling of being cared for by real people rather than simply staying at a guest house. The ryokan has a traditional and authentic atmosphere, and the whole property, including the shared facilities, is clean and very well maintained. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, which also makes the area nice to walk around. As a base for exploring Tokyo, the location works well: the metro and railway station are reachable with an easy walk, making it easy to move around the city while still enjoying a calmer local area. Tatsuo-san also clearly cares about his guests having a good experience in Tokyo and is always ready to share helpful local suggestions and useful advice. Just across the road there is a large Shimadaya supermarket, which is very convenient, affordable, and has a good selection of high-quality food. Overall, Ryokan Nakadaya is a memorable and reliable Tokyo base with character, cleanliness, and genuinely caring hosts. It is a place I would gladly recommend to others looking for an authentic and welcoming stay in Tokyo. I am very grateful for the stay and the kindness I received there. Thank you very much.

An amazing experience! This was my first time in Tokyo and I was very glad that the first place where I stayed was this Ryokan! For a solo traveler it was such a convenient, comfortable and cozy place! I did feel like in anime while coming home and experiencing traditional Japanese Ryokan! Also Mr.Tatsuya was incredibly hospitable and very friendly! He was showing many places in Tokyo, helping with all questions about the stay or about the trip, even sending all the locations from Google maps with recommendations! Every day he was saying “itterashai” when I was going out of the house and saying “ittekimas” - it was a little thing yet I actually felt like local living in Japan! :) And I also really enjoyed sleeping on traditional tatami, I slept like a baby!! Very thankful for such an incredible experience and highly recommend this place

“Best customer service for the money”
The host was the friendliest guy I've had in my travels. Always ready to help you out and advise on where to go. He even helped me carry my suitcase to train station after I checked out. Better customer service than fancy hotels :) I slept pretty well. It's not a great place to do work though. You take a clean towel from a shared space whenever you need. Again a luxury compared to other places where you're stuck with one towel for the whole duration.

Traditional tatami one-bedroom — great value and very comfortable. What really makes this place special is the owner: he introduces you to traditional Japanese customs, shares local tips and stories, and gives excellent advice on where to eat(depenfing on your budget), what to do(with your preferences), and what to avoid. Perfect if you have a loose plan and want an authentic, local Tokyo experience.

“First trip to Tokyo, Japan!”
I do not know where to start, the host is very friendly and very attentive to give you recommendations and help you in whatever you need, the rooms are in traditional style, very clean and comfortable with everything you need to rest (futon, air conditioning, TV, space to accommodate suitcases and clothes), the bathrooms are shared and super clean, you can wash and dry your clothes on site, the neighborhood is quiet and very close to supermarkets, restaurants, Onsen and transportation (both metro and bus).

“Amazing staff and calm neighbourhood.”
This place is amazing! The location is great, close to two metro/train stations and not far from Asakusa, Akihabara, and Ueno. It’s a very calm neighborhood, and I had no problems at all. But the best part was the staff! The owner was super lovely and gave me tips on places to visit every day, depending on where I was headed and he was there to help basically 24/7. When I was leaving, he even helped me carry my luggage from the hotel to the train station. This place is perfect for a long stay: fresh towels every day, good AC, good Wi-Fi, comfortable rooms and close to both a 7-Eleven and a Lawson.

“Amazing time”
Great place to stay, old japanese style, very atmospheric, good location, cheap supermarket nearby. But what adds to the magic and power of this place is the host - Mr. Tatsuo. An amazing man, who from the first minutes of my stay was extremely helpful and immediately showed me interesting places nearby. But not only nearby, every time I went somewhere, Mr. Tatsuo would show me and suggest interesting points of interest in the particular place in Tokyo I happened to be heading to. As a result, this place will stay in my memory for a very long time. I can recommend it to anyone who respects japanese culture and wanted to learn more about it.

“Amazing Ryokan hospitality experience off the beaten track”
Out of all the many places I have stayed at so far, this was the nicest experience in terms of hospitality. The owner is really an amazing host and goes out of his way to accommodate. He gives great advices on what to do and see in which neighborhoods and always made sure to welcome me when I came back to the hostel or to see me off with a small blessing every time I left. He also helped me out a lot by organizing a taxi so that I could catch a super early flight - and then he came to see me off in the morning as well. Other points: - The rooms are small (well, Japan!) but clean, as is the rest of the accomodation. - The walls are quite thin, but I had no issue with noise from the neighbors. - The area is very quiet and residential. - There is a supermarket nearby with generous opening hours. And, of course, several convenience stores. Staying in a Ryokan is a great experience while traveling in Japan. Staying in this one was fantastic.

“Loved it”
I am so happy I picked Nakadaya, the manager and owner Mr Tatsuo really made my first time solo travelling and first time in Japan so special. He might be the most attentive human I have ever met! He helped me plan my days of activities, shopping and restaurants everyday. I got to see parts of Tokyo I definitely would have missed without his guidance. He made me excited to come back ‘home’ everyday with his friendly welcome and blessings. The ryokan is exceptionally clean, even cleaning the rooms everyday! I loved the area being a quiet neighbourhood but easily connected to the rest of Tokyo. I will be coming back and recommending to everyone particularly if it’s their first time in Tokyo!

“Wonderful place with cozy and calm atmosphere, comfrortable beds, good location and amazing host!”
Wonderful place to stay – it's close to the station, it has a calm and cozy atmosphere, and it is clean. If you are afraid of sleeping on the ground, don't be – the beds are super comfortable and better than most of 'standard' beds I slept in. Also, the host is just amazing. He helped us whenever we needed, and recommended awesome places we would never know about otherwise. Best host I ever met, thank you Tatsuo!
