The staff were so helpful and friendly. I liked that they had a drop-off and pick-up service for guests who wanted to eat at a restaurant nearby.

The service provided by the staff was excellent and on a standard that I'd expect from a more expensive facility. They have a number of staff that speak English on site so you don't have to worry if you don't speak Japanese. The shuttle bus driver was very friendly which started the stay off on a positive note. I stayed in single room with the bath on the balcony which was very enjoyable and had views out to Toba and the islands beyond. The kaiseki meal in the evening was very good and included Ise lobster.

Wonderful outside onsen with little to no people. Very much recommended place!

Quiet part of Toba, up a steep road, but lots of free parking. Personal rotenburo on the room balcony, as well as a large communal one outside. Great to relax in. Very comfy beds, and well-equipped bathroom. Staff helpful, and excellent daily bulletin on hotel activities and local walkways. Good maps of local restaurants and shops, as well as tourist information.

“Old world charm made for a pleasant stay”

Very much appreciated the free shuttle bus collection from Toba station as Senpokaku sits nestled among hills. Spectacular views but glad I didn't have to navigate the road on foot with suitcases and stroller in tow. The hotel is impressive but our room was not modern - which added to its charm. Staff were friendly and polite (be prepared to converse using your translate app). We stayed in a traditional Japanese room so while comfortable, very dated. We had access to a mini-fridge and kettle but otherwise only a teapot and cups for green tea. The onsite onsen was nice; great views of Toba from the outside pool. Excellent price.

“Hidden treasure for a dream stay”

The hotel is nice, clean, with a discreet architectural signature from the 60s, smart design. The outside onsen is gorgeous. My room was large, pleasant, comfortable. Every little detail to feel well was there : katana, tea, fresh water. The view on the bay and the location, in the forest, are fantastic. And I have appreciate it is like a hidden spot, and so close to the city.

friendly staff and accommodating shuttle bus service. Excellent view from the room and public bath. Not too far from Toba station, but it is a secluded spot. Smoker friendly room was huge plus for us.

· Breakfast was good, many different dishes to choose from, all tasty items. One English speaking staff woman helped immensely in breakfast room. Glad guests wore face masks in dining room area. We walked down the hill one evening to have dinner in town but couldn't find an uber or taxi to return to the hotel. The very gracious Kyubei Isekaya proprietor called the hotel who promptly sent a car down to pick us up. A huge help for us non Japanese speakers. Truly great service from front desk, car driver, gift shop, dining room and thoughtful room service staff, all. You really get a feel for how it was back 50 years or so in society. The outdoor soaking tub was great.
