Wonderful

The owner and her mother were very welcoming, friendly and kind. I had a spacious room with a view of the sea. Very comfortable and clean with everything I needed. Breakfast was generous and delicious Japanese style, including cook-your-own bacon and egg. I appreciated the unexpected packed lunch, a couple of homemade onigiri, I was given each day. A very relaxing place to stay for a couple of nights and convenient for the train and bus station.

Kaigetsu is an older traditional ryokan, so if you want modern, it’s not for you..however it’s clean central to a lot of

Close to the station and bus terminal. Walking distance to a lot of local attractions and restaurants. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful but zero English spoken so beware.

Wonderful

Fantastic accommodation. The room was traditional, which made for a wonderful experience, and the kindness of the people who run the place was a real plus. They were really very kind and attentive. Furthermore, the location is ideal for visiting Pearl Island (just a few minutes' walk away) and other fabulous places accessible by train, such as the Futami Okitama Shrine and Ise Jingu.

Amazing is the only way to sum this accomidation.

Everything!!!! The hosts were amazing to me, my wife and my 9 month old daughter (Kawairashii), they all really made us feel welcome. Even with a communication barrier (and my poor duolingo Japanese) we were still able to navigate conversations well. The Mie prefecture is known for its seafood, Ama divers and pearls. It did not disappoint. Fun fact Oshawott is the official Pokemon mascot for Mie prefecture

Beautiful and welcoming - a great place to stay in Toba

A wonderful, welcoming, and traditional Japanese stay. A little tired, but the room was spacious and light with everything we needed. The table was set with tea and the house slippers were supplied and our shoes lined up for our use at the door. Kiku's rice balls were a lunchtime life-saver at times, we were so surprised and grateful for this. Great location with wonderful restaurants and access to Toba on your doorstep.

Very nice and clean hotel Japanese style. People were very kind The owner lady gave us a Japanese packed lung even if it was not included in the price . A young lady helped us to book the lunch in the Ama hat as we didn't succeed in booking in line. Beautiful place and experience.

A wonderful stay for anyone wanting a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Kaigetsu is a historic property with a lot of character and charm. Although the building is old, the bathroom felt very new and well updated, which made the stay even more comfortable. We stayed in an excellent room with a lovely tatami sitting area and a tea space, which made the experience feel especially authentic and relaxing. The view was not completely open, but we could still see the sea, which was very nice. The bedding was good quality, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ walk from the station, which made everything very convenient. They also provide the traditional Japanese robes, which added to the charm of the stay. The Japanese-style breakfast was very complete and carefully prepared. Overall, it was a very special experience and a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy the atmosphere of a historical ryokan.

Such a great local Japanese Ryokan. I have lived in Japan for 28 years and this place ranks up at the top. The owners are the sweetest in the world. And the homemade rice balls when you check out are the icing on the cake. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Toba!

A lovely traditional hotel, with a wonderfully attentive host.

A lovely Japanese traditional hotel. Four of us arrived on bicycles, dripping wet from a days cycling in heavy rain. Our host was wonderful, letting us bring our bikes inside, and wiping down our panniers. She also provided a breakfast for us to take on our travels, and waved us off as we left early the following morning.

kaigetsu for a traditional Japanese experience

It was a wonderful experience of Ryoken living. Got to understand more about Japanese culture and traditions.. The owner and the staff were friendly and affectionate.. she even packed Onigiri for our lunch on both days.. 🤗 The breakfast served was traditional Japanese and Kelko the lady who was serving us was too cute.. she spoke only Japanese and us only English and we still managed to understand eachother 🤩 The attractions and train stations were located close to Kaigetsu.Inn
