Janika our host was fantastic. Anything we needed no ask was too big or small. Our Safari was unforgettable and our guide knew where all the animals were. Chef made one of the best club sandwiches I’ve ever had an overall everything was just wonderful. It really was a highlight about trip to Sri Lanka.

Umesh & staff were fantastic, welcomed us in very late and immediately got us settled and fed. What made dinner even better was him bringing over the two new pups, one of which he allowed us to name. Welcoming, little Lola <3 Umesh arranged everything we needed for the safari the next day, had a breakfast for us all packed for the morning. He was even kind enough to keep the shower of the room we had been in the night before open for us when we returned later that day so we could freshen before heading to our next destination.

Amazing property and a great location. The staff were amazing, the accomodation was great and certainly more than 3 star resort. The attentiveness we had from the manager and other staff was beyond helpful and they were all so friendly and nothing was too much. The accomodation was great, we stayed in the new Lavendar villa which fitted 4 people and was only a month old. Extremely clean, very comfortable and good bathroom. Great view with a balcony off the front looking at the lake. The food was all home cooked and massive portion sizes which were delicious and so affordable. We were there for Sri Lankan new year and were asked to participate in the ceremony of boiling milk which was a great experience. I would absolutely recommend staying here. If we were to go back to Yala we will definitely stay again.

We stayed here one night before our safari in Yala. Everything was fantastic! Late check-in, late check-out, and late breakfast after the safari were complimentary. We ordered a Western breakfast and a Sri Lankan breakfast—both were delicious. The rooms were spacious and very well equipped. The staff was 5-star. I highly recommend this place. It's a little off the main road, but you get more out of it.

“Amazing”

We had the most amazing stay at Saffron Lake Yala. We loved every moment and wished we could’ve stayed longer. The area is so peaceful, and the hotel is very clean. The beds were very comfy and the food was delicious. We also saw crocodiles in the lake by the hotel. What really made our stay was the people. They were all so kind, willing to help us, and thoughtful throughout our stay. Janaka especially was so professional throughout and went above and beyond for us during our stay. What an amazing human being!! He is so hard working and nothing was a problem. We enjoyed our chats with him very much, and he told us lots of information about the fruit they grow at the property and the local area. He really made all the difference and makes us want to revisit again in the future. Thank you for such a good stay!

“A great place to stay for access to Yara National Park”

This is a small modern property close to Yala National Park. The properties are individual in nature which means that there are a small number of the guests. It was very restful sitting on the veranda watching the wildlife and occasionally strolling down to the Lakeside. Although we were often the only guests food was served beautifully and on time it just needed to be ordered prior to the meal. The staff couldn’t do enough for us especially Umesh who made us stay very pleasant.

“AMAZING STAY!”

The people were extremely helpful and kind. What we also really loved about the accommodation was its location. It’s situated in a beautiful local town where you truly get a warm Sri Lankan feeling. In addition, it’s located next to a stunning lake where you can already spot many birds. We had great contact with the accommodation and arranged a full-day private safari with a luxurious jeep and guide for 76,000 LKR. We were lucky enough to see three leopards, a true dream come true!! The rooms were very clean and spacious, and we had some of the best food of our entire Sri Lanka trip here.

“A fantastic place to stay for a safari at Yala”

The staff made the stay at Saffron Lake. They helped us out with any request and always with a smile. The team organised us an amazing safari and although it is quite far away from anything, they organised a tuktuk for us to visit the local town. The breakfast and the dinner were particularly good!

The hotel was well located. Very nice and clean. But what made the stay unforgettable was the fantastic staff. Especially Umesh and Janaka did everything possible to make our stay extra special. The food is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.

“An amazing night before Safari”

Their property is visually stunning as it is. The way they set up the rooms itself sets the mood for safari. Polite and helpful staffs, a young chef who is attentive, their team is amazing. I had a deluxe villa, for the night of 16th Dec. The stay was calm and peaceful.

“A beautiful, peaceful place to stay”

A very pleasant place to stay. The room was a very generous size with a lovely balcony. Great bed and good hot shower. The breakfast is catered to whatever you want and the staff were extremely helpful and super friendly. The grounds were immaculate right on the edge of the lake. It is a distance from the shops but so, so quiet and peaceful. Our only regret is that we did not get to spend more time here.
