Great little guest house, really lovely and friendly staff. We only stayed one night ahead of our safari, which we also organised via the guest house - this was excellent, we would highly recommend. We had a lovely dinner, great packed breakfast for the safari and a wonderful homecooked Sri Lankan meal when we returned from the safari. Really good value for money and the family are very passionate about the animals

Unforgettable stay with incredible hospitality I had the best night staying here near Yala National Park. The hosts were incredibly kind, helpful, and made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. They cooked the most delicious kottu and lunch – some of the best food I had during my time in Sri Lanka! They also arranged the safari for me, which was absolutely amazing. I saw so many animals and had a truly unforgettable experience. What I appreciated most was how helpful they were beyond just the stay – they even helped me organize drivers for my onward travels around Sri Lanka. I highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Yala National Park!

“Outstanding Hospitality”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonlight Guest House. What truly makes this place special is the incredible hospitality, warmth, and generosity of the host, Sanjeewa. It’s what stays with you after your stay here. Communication was seamless from the start, and he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after throughout our stay. We were especially craving authentic, home cooked Sri Lankan food, and the meals here absolutely did not disappoint - fresh, delicious, and made with care. The property itself is beautifully set among peaceful rice fields, offering a relaxing and scenic atmosphere. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money. We also joined a Yala safari organised by Sanjeewa, with his brother Tilak as our driver. Everything was arranged ahead of our arrival, making the experience completely stress free. Tilak was fantastic; attentive, patient, and clearly very skilled at tracking wildlife. He gave us every possible chance to spot the elusive leopard, which made the safari all the more exciting. If you’re lucky enough to find availability here, don’t hesitate to book your stay and safari. It will genuinely make your holiday in Sri Lanka even more memorable.

“Exceeded all expectations!”

The guest house is set in a beautiful, quiet location with a lovely outdoor area filled with benches and hammocks where you can relax. The rooms were clean, spacious, and perfect for what we needed, and they had hot showers! Breakfast was delicious and very generous, with everything freshly prepared. The hosts were extremely welcoming and kind. They helped us plan a scenic route to our next destination and even offered us a place to stay if we couldn’t make it home, which was incredibly thoughtful. One of the main reasons we booked was because of the amazing reviews for their safari tour, and we’re so glad we did. We went on a full-day safari with the host’s brother and had an unforgettable experience. They provided plenty of drinks, plus freshly prepared breakfast and lunch for us to take along. Our safari guide was exactly what you’d hope for, respectful of the animals and careful to keep a safe distance while still following leads to spot wildlife. During the day we saw three leopards, crocodiles, countless birds, buffalo, monkeys, snakes, lizards, deer, and much more!The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and even taught us the sounds to listen for when tracking leopards. I can’t recommend this accommodation or safari experience enough.

Our stay at Moon Light Guest House was truly wonderful. The atmosphere was very pleasant, peaceful, and welcoming. Our host prepared delicious traditional meals for us – lunch, dinner, and breakfast – which allowed us to enjoy authentic local food. He also organized a safari for us in Yala National Park, which turned into an unforgettable experience. We were incredibly lucky to see a leopard, and thanks to the driver’s skills we were able to observe it from an exceptionally close distance – it even walked right in front of our car! We would like to sincerely thank Sanjeewa Liyanage and his family for their hospitality and kindness. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience true Sri Lankan hospitality and an amazing safari adventure.

Such a beautiful place nestled amongst tranquil rice fields, and with cosy hammocks in the garden. Clean and comfortable room with great (warm) shower. Very welcoming and homely environment, food was incredible and different each time. Also went for the safari through them, such an experienced driver with great knowledge about Yala park and its animals. They also organised drivers before the stay and after, so helpful and I would highly recommend everything about this experience!

The room was very spacious and the views are very pretty. They were able to help organise everything for the safari, including our transport to and from Yala. The people are lovely and provided us with an amazing home cooked lunch after our Safari.

We stayed 3 nights as we wanted to visit Yala and Bundala national parks, the Home stay and family were exactly what we wanted, they organised the safari trips and kept us well fed with home made food. Would recommend this place.

The owner took a good care of us. He is smart and knows how to deal with guests. Speaks good English also. We also went with safari with them which was a good experience.

Beautiful views of the rice fields, large spacious room, kind and friendly hosts.

We have travelled Sri Lanka for 2 weeks and this has honestly been the best accomodation we've had. The host is extremely nice and welcoming, the rooms are huge and well furnished. It is a perfect place to stay when visiting Yala national park, as the host will also make you a yummy breakfast to go in the morning.
