Such a nice family. They welcomed us like family. We could stay until afternoon because of our safari. It is such a nice cosy, basic cabin on the lake. Really recommend it!

The family who own and run the property are amazing, very hospitable and friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. The host is a great cook and provides such a a positive vibe. Lake face is located away from the CBD and as the name suggests the rooms are tree houses that over looks a lake.

“Amazing host and authentic Sri Lankan experience”

We had an amazing stay with Delusha and her family. Our kids loved playing chess, uno and hide and seek with her daughter, and seeing their water buffalo. For a small fee we were also able to use a pool at a nearby property. Delusha made us a delicious meal on both nights and really made us feel part of her family. We didn’t see any crocodiles but saw lots of birds and wildlife from the cabana. This felt like an authentic Sri Lankan stay. Thank you!!

“Sleeping on safari”

That view is a true highlight of our month in Sri Lanka. We just loved sitting on the balcony, enjoying the antics of the squirrels and birds, and looking for crocs. That gorgeous cool breeze that blows across the lake works like air conditioning. Dilu and her daughters were delightful too, very responsive to any needs and generous with their time and knowledge. Peaceful, quiet, rustic and quaint. The whole place has been lovingly made by the hosts' hands. Beautiful garden. It is 4-5 metres up above the lake, safe from the crocs!

The location looking out over the lake was absolutely stunning. Bird spotting (you didn’t have to try hard) right from your room a little desk just outside that you could sit at and chill and drink a nice gin and tonic cause you’re able to use the fridge and they provided ice. It was really peaceful and lady who runs it was so welcoming and lovely.

This is a true gem of a place to stay with beautiful views over the lake. The family are wonderful - so friendly, generous and kind. The breakfast is delicious and room is very comfy. We found it to be the perfect place to stay for a couple of nights while we explored Yala National park and Tissamaharama.

The view was absolutely stunning, exceeded our expectations. It’s possible to spend hours on the terrace looking at the lake. The tree on the house is very interesting experience (and it was very comfortable as well). The family owning the property is very nice, they arranged great safari trip for us. They are also offering lunches and dinners, tasty and reasonably priced.

We loved our stay at the lake face cabana! The owner was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The surroundings are stunning, the room has everything you need and was a perfect temperature. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka - super tasty and well seasoned. We were even given binoculars to bird watch with as the sunset. The

This is a great place! The hosts are very friendly and the stay is unique..3 tree houses, 2 oeverlooking the lake. Beautifull views. Simple room but clean. All was working. They can also help organise safaris.

“Out of the norm experience but we loved it!!”

From the second we arrived at this property, the host Dilushika was super attentive and couldn’t do more to help. Our accommodation was a cabana which provided exceptional views over the lake. We were lucky enough to see numerous species of birds as well as mugger crocodiles and buffalo. It is a whole family run business which was evident by her eldest daughter and her husband being on hand to help wherever needed and her younger daughter provided the entertainment. You are able to order from a menu that Dilushika will freshly prepare for you. And the food was delicious! We were also able to get laundry done whilst there which was a massive help! Highly recommend for anyone looking to do something out of the norm!

Sitting on the balcony watching amazing bird life and a herd of water buffalo strolling by. The family were delightful, friendly and generous. We really enjoyed our breakfast and dinner. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The view is amazing from these cute elevated cabins. The lake is full of wildlife and a short drive nearby you can see the bats flying out at around 6 pm. The hosts are very friendly and hospitable. Definitely a recommendation if u look for an unique stay.

“Wonderful stay near Yala National Park”

We had an amazing stay in Tissamaharama, just a short drive from Yala National Park. The small cabanas are beautiful and cozy, with a stunning lake view. Waking up to the sunrise here was absolutely magical—and with a bit of luck, you can even spot crocodiles in the water. What truly makes this place special is the hostess and her family. They are incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. The food deserves a special mention: her cooking is simply outstanding—some of the best Sri Lankan food we had during our trip. We also really enjoyed the conversations with the family; staying here felt very personal and authentic. If I ever come back for another safari in Yala, I wouldn’t think twice about staying here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for nature, tranquility, and heartfelt hospitality.

We were recommended to stay here by some friends who visited a few years ago, and the owners hospitality and kindness made us feel right at home. The property is so beautiful and the lovely serene location away from the city was perfect to listen to the sounds of nature and spot animals.
