We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel with our family, including our elderly aunt and uncle, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, Mr David, the manager, stood out for his exceptional hospitality. He was incredibly helpful and genuinely treated us like family, making sure everyone—especially our elderly family members—was comfortable and well looked after. That personal care and attention made our stay feel very special. The food spread was nothing short of a feast—absolutely delicious with a wide variety of options, beautifully presented and catering to different tastes. Every meal felt generous and thoughtfully prepared. The stay itself was extremely comfortable, and what truly set this place apart was the people—every staff member was warm, friendly, and always smiling, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere throughout. The location is absolutely perfect, set right by the lake. Watching the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening was magical, with stunning colours reflecting on the water—H peaceful, calming, and unforgettable. The surroundings are ideal for an eco-style getaway where you can truly switch off and reconnect with nature. The swimming pool was excellent, clean and well maintained, and a joy to use at any time of the day. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgraded bungalow with a private pool, which was a fantastic bonus and made our stay feel even more luxurious. The spa treatments were relaxing and professionally done, adding another layer of comfort and indulgence to our experience. Another highlight was the bonfire with drinks at sunset, which was such a thoughtful and beautiful surprise—a perfect way to relax and enjoy the surroundings as a family. Special thanks to the night watch guard, who was always ready to help and kindly guided us to our rooms at night, ensuring safety and comfort at all times—especially appreciated with elderly family members.

“Enjoyable stay in comfortable “glamping” style tent”

We stayed in the honeymoon tent. It was a romantic vibe and the view out over the water and private pool were lovely. The restaurant was very good. Great breakfast. Evening cocktails by the fire pit also a lovely touch.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The tent was designed well with separate toilet and shower and was very clean on arrival. We had a complimentary bird watching tour with guide then a free cocktail before dinner. Nice touch👍 Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

Excellent Safari with really knowledgeable ranger guide (Chummi). This really made all the difference for our wonderful trip to Uda Walawe National Park. Also, David, the head waiter made us all feel very welcome.

“Wonderful experience, wonderful team”

We took the bushlark villa, which was sensational. It is beautifully appointed, with a four poster bed, quality furniture and detail, and wonderful staff who are so attentive, helpful, and just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was on point. The villa was clean and secure, the safe was a large one for our big laptops and all our stuff, and the mini bar had wine and beer. The chef was excellent and all the team couldn’t help enough. We only booked 2 days in advance, and arranged our tour of Yala separately through GetYourGuide (we went zone 5 as it was 30 minutes away) but they do it too. We saw elephants, one leopard, monkeys, loads of birds and found the afternoon 4 hour tour plenty, without spending all day in the park - but beware you might miss the leopard depending on circumstance. They warn you that you might not see wildlife - but we saw elephants, birds and deers the moment we arrived. The boat ride and bird tour on site were brilliant and a must do. The guy who did my bird tour was so knowledgeable, he also took me through plants and loads of wildlife facts and loads of other facts about Sri Lanka - he was excellent - it’s 6:30am though - but well worth it!! We did 2 nights, which we thought was enough, other people were there longer and were loving it.

This is an amazing lodge with so much wild life in the area. It’s definitely a glamping experience. The staff were lovely. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which we would highly recommend. Watching all the birds from the pool was so peaceful. The naturalist Tushan was an exceptional guide for both our bird watching tour and safari. Yala National park was unfortunately closed due to flooding when we were there but he took us to Bundala National park instead and made sure we still saw lots of wildlife!

“Beautiful Stay at Flameback Eco Lodge”

The lodge is very nice, in a nice location by water. Staff were the best. Piyumi is the kindest person to welcome you when you arrive and very professional. Rajitha is also an amazing therapist that took care of my back pain. Everyone on the lodge was very nice. And it was great to do the Udawalawe safari with Chaminda. I only stayed one full day at Flameback and was tired to do both safaris so skipped the Yala safari. The tents were very charming and clean and it is great to fall asleep and wake up with the sounds of nature and lake reflections.

Amazing location with easy access to Yala national Park. Beautiful surroundings with exceptional natural beauty. Very friendly stuff and well equipped for safari and bird watching. We had a great Safari tour with private guide to see rare animals and well organized! We stayed with our 7y/o son and he enjoyed every minute of our visit. Our tent/room by the lake with airco was very unique. Highly recommended! Rooms
