“Tranquil nature paradise stay with incredible host”

Wow, what an amazing experience we had here. If you are interested in wildlife and nature then absolutely look no further and book to stay here now if it is available, as this is the perfect spot. Randy went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was extremely special. We heard about his place from friends who came back to the UK raving about the experience they had with him, but to be honest our stay was even better than I had anticipated. Without saying too much and ruining some of the magic, Randy is an incredibly thoughtful and enthusiastic guy who will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is memorable. The accommodation is in a lovely spot right next to a lake which is teeming with nature. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. The safari that Randy organised for us was excellent and we saw a fascinating array of wildlife including elephants, leopards and a whole host of interesting local birds. We can’t commend his approach highly enough and wish him all the best going forwards.

This homestay is truly a unique experience on Sri Lanka! Randy is the kindest and most thoughtful host we could have wished for! He welcomed us with some fruits and drinks, brought us snacks throughout the day and took hours of his time to drive us around in his TukTuk while telling us lots of interesting things about the area. He also picked us up from the bus stop and takes care of everything his guests could possibly need! For one afternoon he lent us his scooter, without any charges and just offered amazing advice on what to do. We also got some recommendations for restaurants from him that turned out great. The room was big and clean, we had an amazing view on his garden and could see lots of animals, for example water buffalos, birds and chipmunks! It was a pleasure getting to know Randy and his family and we can wholeheartedly recommend staying at his place! The best host we have ever had ☺️

Randy was amazing! Couldn’t have been any more helpful. Prepared a full breakfast for our safari at 5am! Then the next morning prepared the best breakfast we had in 10 days in Sri Lanka. Superb.

The owner does his job perfectly, treating every guest as a family member. His wife cooks great food and they very nice and kind people. The house is modern, clean and comfortable. They even helped us with arranging safari for the other day. We are grateful and happy that we could stay with them ☺️

We had the best stay at Elegant Lake Yala Safari House last week. Randy was an incredible host, super welcoming and took us on a great tour of Tissa when we arrived looking at many species of birds and saw the bat migration in the evening. He also arranged our safari in Yala for us for a great price and with an experienced driver. We couldn’t have had a better stay - I recommend 100%.

Super friendly and helpful host - brought us out on an evening ride for bat-watching, always offered free rides to surrounding restaurants.

Our stay here was so relaxing. The property is located in a calm and quiet neighbourhood that is definitely worth exploring. The host was incredibly accomodating, taking us for a guided tour in his tuktuk around town on our first night. He organised a very knowledgable and patient safari driver for our trip to Yala. He went and bought us local buffalo curd to try. The breakfast here was plentiful and delicious. We were able to do our laundry here. The feeder on the property was a huge highlight, attracting all sorts of amazing birds and animals for us to see.

“A pleasant stay, warm host and beautiful home.”

The cleanest and most delicately decorated homestay through out our trip in Sri Lanka! Everything in the room is sparkling clean…no dust even on the curtains! The bedsheets are handmade by the hostess with pattern sewed on the bedsheets and pillow cases. (My mum liked it so much she wants to buy a set herself😂). Because the room is well sealed with air conditioner. I don’t need to worry about mosquitoes as I am allergic to mosquito bites. The host Randy is super attentive too. He knew that we haven’t had dinner and he offered to drive us to nearby restaurants with his Tuktuk. He offered us a ride around the lake the next morning to share with us the local culture and stories! (He showed us a plant with popping seed and it is really fun!) You can feel he treated his guests as his friends with warmth and kindness. We will stay here again if we visit Sri Lanka in future!

Randy the owner was amazing! He took us on a free tuktuk tour around the lake and his village, showed us all the wildlife and flora. He was so proud of his hometown and just wanted to show us how beautiful it was. His wife cooked the best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka - the Hoppers with chilli coconut sambal was soooo delicious. The room was very clean with great airconditioning and very clean bathroom perfect for our 1 night stay in Yala. Amazing location right in front of the lake which was so beautiful. Very easy access to Yala national park, Randy organised an amazing safari tour, our guide was so patient and informative. We were very lucky to spot 2 leopards on your safari and a tonne of other animals. Safari lunch included was soooooo delicious.

The location is fabulous, so peaceful opposite the lake, surrounded by wildlife, the host Randy and wife are the ultimate hosts, whatever you want or need they are on hand to make your stay unforgettable, Mr Randy knowledge is 2nd to none, his love of wildlife and nature is beautiful to see and watch, the safari he arranged for me delivered everything I had hoped for, Mr Randy picked the Safari guy and his knowledge was excellent, I will be returning in the not to distant future you arrive as a guest and leave as a family friend

We had a wonderful stay! We wished we could have stayed longer. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location is perfect if you love animals and birds. The host was the kindest person we met so far. He even arranged a free safari around the lake. This was amazing.

Everything!! The property itself is super clean, the cleanest we have stayed in throughout our whole trip. Bathroom amazing, big shower area, super clean, great shower and NO bathroom smell. We were greeted upon arrival by Rhani with a cold face washer, drinks and fruit. Rhani, his lovely wife and beautiful children are the most genuine, kind and humble people we have meet in this country. Cannot recommend this lovely home stay enough!!! All the luxuries, air con, ceiling fan, lovely decor in the spacious rooms that overlook a wonderful garden full of wildlife and just across the road from the lake with abundant wildlife and birds. We learnt so much about the area, the history and the wildlife more than what we did on the safari. Rhani took us around the area via tuk tuk during our stay. All the positive reviews are true about this place!!!! Wonderful property and beautiful people that run it. We encourage all tourists to stay here, it’s wonderful! Best sleep I’ve had since being in Sri Lanka!

“Our favourite stay so far!”

Rhandi and his wife were exceptional hosts! Rhandi offered to take us on a tuk tuk tour of the village after we arrived purely because he wanted us to have a good experience staying with them. He pointed out lots of wildlife and history and was fun! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast had so much good food! We couldn’t finish it all. The location right on the lake is nice and peaceful. Probably our favourite accommodation we have stayed at throughout Sri Lanka
