“It was a perfect location to get to Yala. The terrace. was a great place to sit and relax and enjoy the views”

This place is a true gem. The room was amazing with a lovely terrace and great views. There were mosquito nets over the bed and the bathroom was very spacious. Lar is a great host and cooked us the most amazing dinner. There was so much food it really was delicious. He prepared us a lovely breakfast to take on our safari. No complaints at all!

“Charming place amidst nature”

We stayed at coconut island Yala as base for Yala national park, but we had an amazing time here. The owner was super friendly. The breakfast and dinner was prepared with so much care. The place was comfortable and clean and both the terras and dining areas are surrounded by magnificent landscapes with view on ricefields. We saw a monitor lizard and many birds. The housecat Coco warmed our harts.

Incredibly friendly and helpfull host. Everything was clean. Anything you need he will arrange for you.

The accommodation was adequate. However, we were completely ripped off with the Safari tour. So do not book a Safari tour through this homestay! We paid good money, and we were never actually taken into the national park!. Also, our guide treated his young staff member, appalling, swearing, and yelling at him. There were other customers that complained whilst on. SAFARI were also treated very badly. We've had such a wonderful experience in Sri Lanka so far, so this was very upsetting! The owner refused to take any responsibility for the tour even though we paid him the money. He did eventually after a number of conversations agreed to not charge for accommodation, but we were still out of pocket $ 100 dollars!!

“I would recommend Coconut Island Yala to any adventurer!”

Location was 10/10. Loved how it faced the rice paddy field and was in a quiet tranquil location. In addition, the Homestay owner was very very helpful. He helped arrange the car from Ella to Tissamaharama, the full day safari and also the car to our next destination. All for a very good price. As a side note, we managed to see TWO leopards, a bear, elephants and lots of others on our trip so we highly recommend based on his safari contact!!

“Beautiful view!”

Nice location with a stunning view! The beds were comfy and a huge bathroom! The owner was very friendly without being too assertive, for breakfast he made hoppers, pani pol and fruits in his super cozy garden! Really recommend this place!

Excellent hospitality, the host is a great person and a great appetite.

“Perfect - just what we wanted!”

Lal the owner is absolutely lovely and couldn’t do more for us! He cooked us an incredible vegetarian dinner and prepared breakfast for us to take on the safari! The room was very comfortable and the location is beautiful and very close to Yala!

We enjoyed our stay at Coconut Island Yala. The surroundings and the house are super beautiful. Also the host helps you with any booking you want to do during your stay in Yala.

“An excellent stay surrounded by nature close to Yala national park”

It really felt like staying in the jungle, with monkeys and lots of birds around, surrounded by coconut palm trees. Waking up to the sound of birds and the chant of the nearby buddhist temple was a lovely experience. Our host (the owner) was very nice and welcoming, attending to our every need and preparing delicious breakfast and dinner. He built the place himself with taste, surrounding it with flowers and plants, and growing his own vegetables and rice (which tastes very nice). The place was clean, with very comfortable beds with great mosquito net, and with very good AC. The shower was nice. The wifi was good too. A nice lake (Yoda) is about 25 mins walking distance, and it's full of different birds. I definitely recommend this place!

Good size room and bathroom, does everything you need for a short stay to visit yala. Great view of the rice field, very peaceful. Host is such a lovely person, good to chat to and cooked us vegan dinner as we requested - it was extremely tasty, super generous portions and had great variety!!

Super welcoming host, who has created a little paradise from the botttom of his heart. Very humbled and peaceful place to stay at in the middle of a stunning green piece of land, in front of a rice field. Near to the city center though. Room has everything you need.

Very nice accommodation, large bedroom and large bathroom with a nice terrace. The host is very welcoming and cooks super well! We had a great time. And best wifi in Sri Lanka !

“Friendly staff.”

My tuk tuk broke on my way to the hotel. I called him, and he came over to help me reach the hotel. He even helped to get my tuk tuk repaired. He's such a dedicated guy. Mr. Lal. He is a wonderful chef as well. The room is big enough to accommodate 3 people. The view is excellent.....

Good location, walking distance from bus stand and the city but in a calm area. Very convenient to go to Yala safari. Owner is very nice. Food is very good (we had rice & curry dinner twice and breakfast) and served in a lovely garden with nice view.
