It was a unique experience to stay in the national park. The host was informative and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and the home cooked food was incredible. I’d highly recommend staying here if you want to experience a submersive experience within the national park of Yala.

A warm welcome from our host Shishika who is seeking to expand the facilities by building a couple of new rooms. We stayed in the tree house which was quite an experience - steep wooden stairs with an amazing view from the top, and built around the tree itself so the tree is in the middle of the room! We experienced wildlife first hand with a tiny tree frog appearing in our room as well as a small lizard – we had been warned and it was all part of the experience of being close to nature. We went to sleep to the sound of nightjars singing. The photos I've included were all taken in or around the grounds. We were treated to a sunset walk around the area by the host who is passionate about wildlife and preserving the beauty of this area. This was followed by a delicious meal in the evening and we were also provided with a packed breakfast for our morning safari.

We stayed in a treehouse up 3 sets of steps, view was beautiful, lovely sounds of nature. It felt magical. It was compact but had everything we needed. Shishika and his family went over and above to make our stay special. The homecooked food was exceptional and each dish explained when served, many with health giving properties and growing on their land. They are further developing their business with a family tree house almost completed, it looks amazing. Bed was really comfortable. We had an enjoyable and informative walk round the lake on the edge of Yala park. I messaged ahead to ask about safari and this was arranged. We had the feeling that nothing was too much trouble.

All of the food was exceptional. The staff treated us to some local specialities. A special note is that we had the best cup of tea we've ever drunk. We loved the tree house for it's quirkiness and excellent views. The owner took us for a walk around the locality in the evening which was very interesting and informative, with lots of birds and animals, an extra special treat.

“Living out every child's dream and staying in a tree house!”

I loved staying here - it's quirky and different and that made it really special. The host is so friendly and helpful and the food onsite is delicious and plentiful. Isn't it every child's dream to live in a tree house? The view from the balcony overlooking Yale National Park is special. Unfortunately, I was out on safaris for most of the time I was staying there, so I didn't really get to appreciate it fully.

“A Hidden Gem with Heart”

Our stay at Animal View Point was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning location the views are absolutely breathtaking and offer a perfect sense of peace and beauty. The hospitality here is on another level. The owner is incredibly kind and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. He is genuinely helpful and makes you feel right at home. But the real secret highlight? His mother’s cooking! Do not miss out on the meals here; she is a fantastic cook and every dish was authentic and delicious. It truly added a special touch to our stay. If you are looking for a beautiful place with a warm, family atmosphere, this is it. Highly recommended!

The tree house at animal view point was a property full of character. The welcome and the care taken by Shishika and his family was fantastic. The food was very good and it was a real break from the hustle and bustle of Kandy and Ella. We went for an evening walk around the lakes and saw crocodiles, lots of beautiful birds and water buffalo, and were in a great location to get an early start for a safari into Yala block one. It was an amazing day, we saw 4 leopards and a sloth bear amongst many other animals. The hosts were more than happy to help with organising the safari and transfers.

Very nice room and location, and we were very nicely welcomed. The food was excellent. We went for a lovely guided walk around the hotel to see the birds and sunset. We've also seen the new tree house which looks superb and ready to welcome new customers with an amazing view

“Real jungle experience”

Shashika is one of the most kind guy I ever met! The position very close to the Yala it’s perfect. We had a walk with him around the area, we saw so many animals, crocodiles and so many birds. Sometimes you can see even elephants. Go there before sunset and enjoy the view from the tree house. Food made by his mom is above and beyond, traditional and very tasteful

“Superb stay immersed in wildlife”

Wow, what a place! The tree house was such a great experience, you are literally in a tree. We have stayed in tree houses before but this is the real deal. The bed was very comfy and lack of air con was not a problem as the fan was more than adequate.The whole setup is superb with such a friendly and knowledgeable host in shashika and excellent food from his mum. You are really in the wild here, there’s a lake about 2 min walk away and we saw a few crocodiles. Elephants roam by as well. It’s a magical place to spend time. For a safari, I would strongly recommend using shashika as he has a great Jeep and is so knowledgeable. This was the highlight of our month in Sri Lanka.

The location and the room itself is unbelievable, right by the national park. It was amazing to be sleeping in a tree, would love to come there again!

Warmly welcomed with a welcome drink, we were then taken on a guided walk around the property which boarders Yala and learnt so much about the local wildlife. There are so many animals nearby, it really is Animal View Point! Delicious Sri Lankan curry dinner cooked with fresh Tilapia fish, ice cream and beer. The entire time we were in conversation learning about the area and property. It was wonderful. The next day we woke for a Safari in Yala Block 5 which we organised directly and they are the guides. Very knowledgeable and again, we learnt a lot. The property is basic and there are bugs but that doesn’t take away from the experience, it is nature after all. They are building a more luxurious tree house with a plunge pool which looks amazing! We stayed December 3rd, 2025.

The host is exceptionally courteous and consistently available to assist. We were kindly offered tea with biscuits and guided walks around the perimeter of the property. The treehouse precisely matches the images provided. It even includes a compact shower and a water closet, all situated within the tree itself. While this is not a luxurious apartment, it is indeed a treehouse nestled within the Yala wilderness. However, for what it is, it is truly outstanding. You might encounter an occasional ant, but this is nothing bothersome or uncommon compared to other accommodations in Sri Lanka. The view from the treehouse is breathtaking. One can observe the sunset and spot water buffaloes and peacocks in the fields. We also did not encounter any issues with the temperature during our sleep, nor were we bothered by mosquitos.

Staying in a tree house was a wonderful unique experience for us. We managed ok even witha lot of baggage. Birding from the balcony first thing was great. The host, Shasika did a great job of making us feel welcome. Spotlighting genets around the lodge on the first evening and Jerdon's Nightjars on the second evening were real highlights for our trip to Sri Lanka - magical moments!

A true hidden gem in the jungle. We were warmly welcomed by Shashika and his wife. The location is simply amazing: a cosy bungalow that can fit a baby cot, as well as a beautiful treehouse. The decoration is very tasteful and well done. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and meals are served in the main restaurant with your feet in the sand. Shashika can also organise a safari for you, which makes the stay even more special

The tree house was amazing with the nature and the views. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly.one of the highlight's was the home cooked Sri Lankan food it was exceptional. Would highly recommended this place if you want a authentic Sri Lankan experience in nature!
