Our stay at Thabamati Luxury Tented Camp was truly fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Oskar, Mish, Charlie, the chef, and the entire team made us feel incredibly welcome. The attention to detail was remarkable. One thing we especially loved was how they moved our dinner table to different locations every evening, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere each night. The food was outstanding — beautifully prepared and delicious at every meal. The wildlife experience was incredible. During our stay we saw a wide variety of animals including many elephants, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, buffalo, rhinos, and even a leopard. The amount and diversity of wildlife we saw was truly impressive. The explanations and knowledge shared during the game drives made the experience even more enjoyable and educational. The tents themselves are very luxurious and comfortable, perfectly blending the feeling of being in nature with high-end comfort. Having a hippopotamus right outside our tent was something very special and unforgettable. Being able to leave directly from the camp and encounter elephants and many other animals nearby made the experience even more extraordinary. But beyond the animals and the beautiful camp, what impressed us most was the warmth, professionalism, and care from the entire team. We spent two months traveling in South Africa, and these days at Thabamati were truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. We highly recommend this place — it is absolutely a five-star experience.

Amazing hospitality throughout the entire stay. The camp is beautiful, with perfection in every detail. The tents were very comfortable, spotless, and equipped with everything you could need. The food was delicious, and the safari game drives were absolutely incredible, with an amazing variety of animals to see.

The experience at Thabamati exceeded all of our expectations. We kicked off our honeymoon in SA with a 4 night safari and we must say the bar was set very high! The food was excellent, the accommodations were spotless and the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The lodge is bang in the middle of it all with resident hippos just meters away from your tent. Mich and Charlie pour their heart and soul into curating a slice of paradise in the wild for their guests and the results speak for themselves. The safari itself was nothing short of breathtaking. We saw the big 5 and more up close with detailed explanation and interesting tid bits of information constantly flowing. The guide and Oscar the tracker are super informative, knowledgeable and professional. We would definitely recommend it for a personal and high end safari experience!

“Understated exclusive luxury with first class guiding and attentive friendly staff.”

Stunning location in front of a large dam/pool populated by hippos, not a puddle of a waterhole like many lodges. The camp is simple, 2 tented rooms either side of an open main lodge building leading onto a terrace with small swimming pool and overlooking the water. But what else do you need ? Small, intimate, and stamped with understated luxury the camp is exclusive. As a family we occupied 3 of the rooms and had the lodge to ourselves for 3 of our 6 nights. The 4 tented rooms were a perfect size and beautifully decorated. The food was delicious, great attention was paid to portion sizes, presentation and all our dietary needs and requests carefully addressed (peanut allergy) The staff are lovely, approachable, always on hand and very attentive. Charlie and Mish, the managing couple along with Courtney make you feel as though you this is your home. The guiding experience was probably my best ever, and thats after 25 years of safari, we had started going on courses as we had heard it all so many times before, but Charlies breadth of knowlege is astounding, he is a master of timing, keeps you engaged and doesn't overload you, I was learning information that I had never heard before. Needless to say the sightings were amazing; leopard, lion, wild dog, many birds and some fascinating small stuff as well. The traversing rights mean that there are very few vehicles in your area and some drives we didn't see any other vehicles at all. The game viewer seats 8. The middle seat is converted for storage so no one ever has to sit in the middle. We absolutely loved it and will return.

The camp is stunning, stylish & comfortable. Rooms are gorgeous! All the staff are so friendly & helpful. The food & hospitality is incredible too. The view over the huge watering hole gives amazing animal spotting: hippos and elephants galore! The game drives were THE BEST. We saw a leopard close-up every day, a pride of lions playing. Incredible! This is a luxury safari without the luxury price.

Stunning tents with tasteful interior and spectacular view right at the waterhole watching the hippos and wildlife. Delicious healthy food and a huge variety of drinks to choose from. Great courteous friendly staff and service. Incredible game drives with highly qualified Rangers.
