The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the rooftop and restaurant are stunning and we enjoyed drinking our mate up there. The WiFi was good in the common area, but not working too well in the room itself.

The staff, the homemade breakfast, the terrace and the view were all exceptional. It was very good value - not luxurious but that wasn't what we were looking for

Everything was spotlessly clean, the room was comfortable and cozy. The view from the rooftop was incredible. We felt very welcomed, with recommendations about what to do.

Me and my partner stayed here and loved the place. The rooms are spacious and well decorated, the breakfast is elite for the region, and the staff are super friendly. Loved our stay and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Great location with stunning view of the Hill of seven colours. Nice terrace with a view and delicious breakfast with fruit, toastie, and yummy coffee. Service and attention were superb. Kitchen area to have meals, make tea and coffee, etc.

“What a great stay”

The host Ludmilla is an extremely kind and friendly person who assisted us a lot with booking and deciding on our tours. The hostel terrace has an amazing view overlooking the mountains and valley. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious and we were offered different options to adjust it to your preference or diet. Our room was small and very comfy and was cleaned daily. We didn't feel like guests and more like family ❤️

The property sits up a hill with beautiful views of the hills around - the views are the real selling point! Nice little hotel, basic. The staff were really friendly. The walk into town is 10/15mins and there are lots of friendly dogs on the way.

We’ve been traveling for over 5 months. Hostal de Altura was one of our favorite accommodations. Yes, it’s a steep walk uphill, which might not be for everyone given the thin air in this high-altitude village. But if you make it up there, you’ll be rewarded with a picture-perfect view from the roof terrace. In our opinion, Tilcara is more scenic than the other well-known towns, and the perfect base from which to explore the quebrada. Thumbs up for the breakfast: we enjoyed the pancakes and cereal muffins. Our host Dana was amazing: due to a delay, we arrived in the middle of the night. She made arrangements for us to be able to enter the room and even gave us an upgrade. She also got us in touch with a local tour guide, whose prices were half of what the tour operators in town charge.

A wonderful hostel with a million dollar view from the patio and the most friendly and accommodating staff! Thank you Santiago, we will be back!

“Best stay ever”

The hostal is at a perfect location, on top of a hill looking over the multi-coloured mountains. The staff - all of them - are genuinely amazing. We initially booked 2 nights, but we both got sick so had to stay longer, and it was the perfect place to do so. The staff checked in on us multiple times a day to see if we needed anything or if they could do anything for us 🥹 for which we are forever grateful. The room was very very clean, and got cleaned every morning. The shower is hot and has good water pressure and the beds are very comfortable. As others already stated, this was also our best breakfast in 4 months of traveling through South America. There also is a cute rooftop terrace to chill and have breakfast while watching the beautiful mountains. 10/10 I would recommend everyone to stay here!

“Hostal de Altura has the best view of the quebrada from the comfy relaxed terrace”

A bit far from the bus station, it's actually perfect located for a walk to the pukara or the devil's gorge. And it's also a couple of blocks away from the best peña in town.

The girl behind the counter while we were staying there was so friendly and really helped us! And the view from the terrace is amazing!
