Everything about Pakay is to like - from the kind and inspiring host, Tony, and his family, to the beautiful location (a perfect introduction to the Ecuadorean rainforest), to the crazy fun rafting experience we get to do together with Tony and his crew. Can only recommend!!

“Fantastic hostel, great hosts, breakfast, sustainable efforts and I loved the composting toilets.”
Bedrooms were amazing with a loft additions. The communal area was open armored so beautiful views of the gardens, even in the rain with games and books and access to the kitchen to make a hot drink. The owner is Ecuadorian and speaks excellent German and English, his wife is American and speaks excellent Spanish.

“dont miss it!”
Loved this quiet, charming place tucked in a blooming garden, hidden away in a peaceful corner of Tena. A perfect contrast to the noisy, busy center. The owners and crew were fantastic – helpful, respectful, easy-going, and genuinely kind. Great breakfast, good conversations, real traveler’s vibe.

“Hidden gem”
We loved our time at this hostel, the hostst are very helpfull and kind. Our private lodge was comfortable, well-equipped, and had everything we needed. The big highlight: their strong focus on sustainability. The place is largely self-sufficient and run with real care for the environment. Bonus: they have two super friendly dogs that made us feel right at home. Highly recommended!

There is a hole instead of a toilet, the whole room smells terrible. There is no soundproofing at all, some Germans were farting loudly and laughing all morning behind the wall. There is not a single chair in the room, not a single table, there is absolutely nowhere to put a computer, it is impossible to work. For breakfast they gave cold coffee with cold milk. It is just awful.

Very peaceful Place. Tony and the whole team are there to make the stay a super special experience with a ton of knowledge about ecuador to share, fun activities and great hospitality. We did a rafting tour and went for a hike in the jungle and had the best time. we planned to stay one night and ended up staying three nights.

The Hostal is located in a beautiful, calm garden. The rooms were made very nice and confortable. Even though the Hostal is located quite some walking minutes from the town center, it's good accessible by walking or with a taxi for 2$. The owner and the people working there were very friendly and helpful. They gave us advises where to go, called us a taxi or the called the bus company for asking for the schedules. They also organise tours from the Hostal and they provide any informations you need.

“Nothing special”

We had an amazing stay here.The staff are friendly and Tony is a knowledgeable tour guide who is passionate about the Jungle. The staff went out of their way and even cooked a Christmas Eve dinner for us.
