Great stay! The staff are really friendly and helpful, the dormitory was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was brilliant, ideal to soak and relax after a day in the hills. Very close to the trails into the hills, and the cable car for quick access to the alps. The evening meals were really good value, and very tasty.

“Perfect stay for the Alpine route!”

We stayed at LOCOMOTION COFFEE AND BED mainly because we wanted to buy tickets for the Alpine Route. Since tickets were sold out days in advance, the only option was to queue early in the morning: and this place is perfectly located just a short walk from the ticket office. We actually woke up at 4am to line up, so the location made everything much easier and was definitely a big plus. The hostel itself is very nice, clean, and has a modern feel, which we really appreciated. We also had dinner there, and it was very good: another pleasant surprise. Overall, it’s not the cheapest option for a hostel, but if your goal is to secure Alpine Route tickets, the location alone makes it worth it.

Great location (close to station but still quiet), with all the facilities you need. Thoughtfully designed dorms with spacious individual cabins, really planned out for the hiking traveller. Small and clean onsen facility!

The location is very good, just out of the station. The sleeping area is large and comfortable. There is also a bathhouse for you to take a bath.

Booked 2 bunks for one night in order not to get up too early for next day cable car. Great location, nice staff. Spacious room inside the bunk! The hosts will suggest to self prepare the dinner, cause there is no others around except for 3 accommodations. Very clean and new.

Each bunk is equipped with its own locker, the first time at a hostel where I wasn’t worried about my belongings. The facilities were all spotless!

Very well design accommodation. I stayed in the dorm room. There was a curtain for each bed. The dorm area for each person was bigger than the bed. The dowm was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Also, the food was great. I paid extra to have breakfast and dinner. The staff were terrific. Very friendly, and happy to explain things.

Very close to the Tateyama station. New, modern design in a well-constructed building. Property has 2 private rooms and 2 dormitory style rooms. Very clean and neat. Restaurant open to non-guests and serves lunch and coffee.

Beautiful little spot - clean and cozy, the perfect stop over on the way up the Alpen Route. We loved the onsen, and enjoyed a delicious dinner that we booked in advance. Very comfortable room for two.
