“Great to observe macaws”

Amazing place to observe macaws and other wildlife, sometimes right off your balcony! The pool was great too, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Just a very short walk to the beach with a beautiful sunset. Parking was secure (they close the gate at night). Would recommend!

The location. At one time the buildings would have got a five star rating. The wildlife was great. It is called House of the Macaws because of the Macaws

“A feeling of stepping back in time. Macaws everywhere!”

This is a family owned establishment. The staff were wonderful and made us feel at home. This hotel doubles as a school for the local children. It was a unique and lovely experience staying here.

“Good value for money”

Hotel is under new management and they are very eager to improve the place. There still is a lot of work to be done but the pool, the breakfast and the dinner were excellent. The rooms are basic but clean and there was no hot water when we stayed there, but it was not necessary. Staff was very nice.

“OK”

The House of Macaws used to be the very smart Hotel Carara. It is in a great location with access direct to the beach and still has a lovely swimming pool which is cleaned daily. You are guaranteed to see Scarlet Macaws! Six flew by during one breakfast! The family who now live at the hotel, particularly the mother and daughter, are helpful and pleasant.

There is a beautiful garden with ARA's you can take the public bus for watching a lot of crocodiles. we could use the kitchen Very nice people swimming pool

Agustino was very king and helpfull, the place is very well maintain, awesome Access to the beach through a little park where you can see many couple of arras very well. Better than in cararra national Park actually.

Friendly staff

Fairly easy to find—easy with Waze. Not bad location—near ocean. Near national park. Quaint village with mix people.

“A local quiet place with lots of Macaws.”

It’s a bit worn out, but is situated in a smal cozy village by the sea. Macaws flew around and were so beautiful. It’s easy to go to Carara National Park and the crocodile tour is down the road. We were happy to stay in this quiet and local place in stead of Jaco near by. The staff were extremely helpful and we were even invited to a 15.th birthday. It is not touristic at all, and we felt we were in REAL Costa Rica.

we just stayed there for 1 night so not much to say about it. clean room, clean pool, and friendly staff.even though they didnt speak much english, they really made an effort to make us welcome.

Proximity to the beach was great. Beautiful sunset there. Lovely birds in the garden. Staff were friendly.

Very nice place with a swimming pool right in the heart of beautiful Costa Rica nature. The staff was very helpful with arranging my trip request. It is away from busy places, nice and quiet.

The breakfast was very good - a good choice, plus juice and coffee. Dinner was good too and there were a lot of options. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I was upgraded to a better room on arrival which was a nice surprise. There is a lot of wildlife around. The restaurant is a pleasant place to eat and there is also a little area with comfy chairs and books where you can relax. There is a little path leading to the beach, which is stunning. There is also a fairly large swimming pool.

Super close to the beach and nice pool. Food in the restaurant was great, although limited to what stock they had on that day. Staff were lovely. Security was good. Balcony was nice.

It’s a lovely place for sure. We saw many macaws and other interesting birds flying around. The hotel has a faded charm, but the owner should not wait anymore with some fresh ups and serious investments. Lovely host that really cares about her guests. OK Breakfast and suitable for basic diners too.
