Location is beautiful, great spot for a bird enthusiast! Lots of activity here, the hotel's restaurant has a deck space specifically for birds and other creatures to enjoy some fruit! Truly a remarkable experience! Staff is very kind and accommodating. Food at the restaurant is very tasty, they take alot of pride in their food! They do what they can to ensure your stay is comfortable. Due to the high animal activity in the area, you may have some visitors outside your room. So fun!

“Birdwatching paradise”

Birds!! Great place to watch the wildlife. The Italian chef makes delicious pizza and pasta.

My wife and I stayed there for two nights at the end of February. We received a very warm welcome. The deluxe rooms are also very good and clean. We were there primarily for bird photography. We especially enjoyed being so close to the macaws and other birds. The peaceful atmosphere of the lodge, nestled in nature, was also a big plus. For dinner, we had pizza and beef burgers, both of which we highly recommend. We took excursions to Carara National Park and two boat trips on the Tarcoles River. These were also fantastic for birdwatchers, especially at sunset. A hike along the beach to the mouth of the Tarcoles River, with its numerous pelicans and various gulls, was also a great experience. So, if you're looking for a lodge in nature with plenty of birds to observe, this is an excellent choice.

“Fantastic food and lovely scarlet macaws”

The breakfast was ok, but nothing special. However, the food for lunch and dinner was outstanding. Pizza was phenomenal and so was the ham & cheese sandwich. It was great to sit in the outdoor restaurant watching birds and monkeys. Compared to 11 years ago, the quality of the food has increased significantly. They do have a pair of scarlet macaws visiting every morning at around 7, and this is a great asset. At the same time, they have 2-3 visiting monkeys. They are also an attractive asset.

Very calm place with a stunning view of the sea and nature, and lots of birds coming while you are taking breakfast . The staff is very helpful

Great location, kids loved the pool. The outdoor bathroom was fun, too.

Friendly and great value. Birding also good around the lodge and nearby. Lovely pizza! Reception staff very helpful.

Cerro is perfectly located near the coast and national parks. The staff are excellent and the facilities just beautiful. Tours on offer at additional cost. The pizzas were astounding but much of the food on offer was quite expensive.

Superb location for birders. Got Trogons and many other bird species right in front of the room. Famous location for seeing Scarlet Macaw. Room had air-conditioning.

“Great stay in a nice location - loved the monkeys and macaws!”

We had a great 3 night stay at Cerro Lodge. They were so accommodating to us despite them being quite busy. The staff worked really hard and often went above and beyond. Breakfasts were a little hit and miss but it did depend on when you got there and how busy they were. There was generally cereal, fruit, pancakes and eggs plus plenty of tea, coffee and juice. Nice to have cold water and ice available the whole day. Lovely to see the monkeys and macaws come for food in the dining area. Beds were comfortable and we all slept well. We ate in the restaurants and the pizzas were delicious! Bathrooms were a joy in the 3 bed rooms - not so nice in the 4 bed ones.

“A good place for birding”

Good birding from the breakfast area .Jess is very good at arranging tours The Pizza is very good. We had Scarlett Macaws fiesting on the almond three just beside our room. The crccodile Safari was very good.
