“excellent hostel in the heart of Tangier for budget travellers”

It's a humble hostel, but we felt very welcomed and the private room on the rooftop with its own balcony is very nice though simple. The pictures are accurate, you get what you see. Some more storage in the room would be helpful but not essential. We enjoyed the privacy of our own terrace with the city and sea views for morning coffee and sunset drinks. Water was hot and good pressure, electric heater in the room is handy. Good value for money for budget travellers. Staff was very attentive, helpful, polite and amicable.

My experience at Tangiers Hostel in Tangier was mixed, with both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the beds were clean and had privacy curtains, which is useful in a shared dorm. There is also a laundry service available for an extra charge. One of the other staff members (a second administrator, who is also a musician/producer) was much more welcoming, understanding, and helpful compared to the main receptionist.

Clean, good beds each with a charge point, light and curtains. Nice roof terrace and kitchen. It is arranged and managed with attention to detail in a very clear and thoughtful way, with guest's interests at heart - unlike many hostels. Also it gets properly cleaned every day. After booking I got a WhatsApp message with information, including saying it's only for people aged under 50. On enquiry, I was told this is because of the number of stairs. Yes there are many, but typical of hostels in medinas. I (reasonably fit 64 yrs) had no problem at all, nor with accessing the upper bunk. Good Wi-Fi, great location and roof terrace.

The staff is super nice (Thanks Essam, I really enjoyed your company) and the location is great. The building itself is also spacious and the bedrooms are nice, with some privacy through the curtains and a light and socket. You get a magnetic key for the night. The rooftop is chill.

“Terribly overpriced”

Tangier is terribly overpriced. I paid €12 per night, which is €2–4 more than what I paid in Faro, Porto, Budapest, Kraków, and even Dubai. Tangier seems to be copying European prices, but the quality is nowhere near comparable. There is no heating or cooling system, no kettle, and no microwave. Even when hot water is available, it is not on demand. In terms of quality, the accommodations in Tangier are far more comparable to what you might find in Thailand or the Philippines. Given that level of comfort and amenities, the price should be closer to €4–6 per night. That said, I suppose you have to experience everything in life—and one of those experiences, apparently, is being overcharged in Morocco. On a positive note, the prices do not increase significantly over the weekends, which is a very common practice in many parts of Europe.

I booked a bed in a 4-bed dormitory. The dormitory is large enough, so you do not feel packed at all. The bed is a bunk bed, with a fair enough good mattress. For this dorm, you have access to 1 ensuite bathroom (shower, toilet, sink). There are also 3 other full bathrooms in the hostel. All were clean. You also have access to a fully equipped kitchen without oven. The rooftop is super chill. The WiFi is good. Located in the medina. Many places for food nearby. 1km away from Ras M Sallah bus stop where you can catch line 14 that goes to the Tanger train station or line 18 that goes to the Checfchaouen Grand Taxi station. With regards to the staff, I was welcomed by Hind and Youssef, who are super nice and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a short or a long stay.
