Set crossroads of the Kasbah and Medina, the Dar Chams Tanja guesthouse offers an exceptional view over Tangier, its bay and the Straits of Gibraltar. It is within easy access of the souks and features a hammam. We stayed two nights at Dar Chams Tanja and honestly couldn’t have picked a better place to experience the kasbah and medina area of Tangier. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was wonderful. Ilham kindly checked us in an hour early since we arrived sooner than expected, and we were welcomed with delicious Moroccan tea served in a beautiful silver teapot. The hotel perfectly balances traditional Moroccan charm with modern comfort. We stayed in the junior suite, which was incredibly spacious and beautifully decorated, with a small lounge area and lovely shuttered windows that added so much character to the room. Everything was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. Noise really wasn’t an issue for us. Occasionally you could hear children playing or people talking outside, but never for long, and overall it felt peaceful. Honestly, when staying in a kasbah area, a little bit of life and noise is part of the experience — people live there too, and that’s part of the charm. On our last day, Mourad helped arrange a taxi for us to the Tangier train station, and everything went smoothly. The taxi arrived promptly with no delays at all. He even walked us down carrying my bag and gave us helpful travel suggestions for other places to visit in Morocco, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, we had a genuinely lovely stay. The restaurant above the hotel was also a highlight — incredible pastries, a beautiful rooftop terrace, and the perfect spot to relax in the sun with drinks and food overlooking the city.

Really nice accommodation well located in the medina. The spa at the property was good with good quality authentic hammam. The restaurant also had good quality dishes and a nice breakfast.

“Incredible place with amazing service”
The room was exceptional, the riad in general was astonishing. All staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and kind, and a big shoutout to Ali who helped us every time we needed something, he made our stay even more special. We also got a massage at the riad which was amazing. And the view from the rooftop was absolutely mesmerising.

My Bedroom. The facility is a modern riad, centrally located between the kasbah and the Medina. It has a beautiful terrace with a coffee room. The view is overwhelming.

“Memorable adventure in the heart of the Kasbah.”
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was limited in choice but good quality. The hotel is beautifully decorated and equipped with.The room was spacious. The hotel would not be easy to access for people with mobility issues- inside the hotel is fine as there is a lift. The location is stunning for those keen to experience the Kaaba!!

Exceptional hotel very close to the main attractions, exceptional staff and thanks to Taha for taking care of us. Breakfast was amazing and we enjoyed the beautiful landscape from the rooftop
