Our stay at Kirinuga was truly special and exceeded all our expectations. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and deeply personal. It never felt like a typical hotel stay, but more like being invited into someone’s beautiful home. Renate is an exceptional host: kind, attentive and incredibly thoughtful. You can feel the passion and love that has gone into every detail of this retreat. The rooms are absolutely spotless, not just “clean for Sri Lanka,” but honestly on a German level of cleanliness. Everything is beautifully maintained and designed with great taste. Breakfast was outstanding every morning – fresh, high-quality and prepared with care. On one of the days Renate was away, her friend Florian looked after the retreat, and we had such a great time with him as well. He’s a funny and easygoing Bavarian guy with a great sense of humor, and we really enjoyed the relaxed conversations and good vibes. It added such a personal and authentic touch to our stay and made the whole experience even more memorable. We also loved the personal touch in everything, including the surf lesson Renate recommended, which turned out to be a 10/10 experience. Everything was perfectly organized and effortless. Kirinuga is not just a place to stay. It’s a place where you truly feel comfortable, relaxed and valued as a guest. One of the most heartfelt and enjoyable stays we’ve ever had.

Very beautiful hotel with stunning décor, carefully designed with great taste. The place is charming and pleasant. The food is of very high quality — we ate extremely well throughout our stay. A special mention as well for the gentleman who works at the hotel, who is very kind, helpful, and attentive.

Renate and team were very hospitable and friendly, making our stay wonderful. The Stone Room was very tastefully decorated and the property is peaceful. The pallikudawa beach is right opposite, making it perfect for a morning swim! We will definitely come back again.

Shell room was absolutely stunning! The photos didn’t do it justice - we are so glad we stayed here & had the most relaxing time. Attention to detail was incredible, very clean, lovely warm showers & such a delicious breakfast included. Hosts were so welcoming. Thank you so much Renate! We will definitely be back here again when we return! A very lovely property with the added bonus of 3 friendly dogs and a 1-2 minute walk across from the beach!!!

“Wonderful welcoming hosts”

It was a great experience staying at Kirinuga Boutique Retreat. Renate and Shantha were wonderful, welcoming hosts and Shantha in particular was so helpful when we needed assistance regarding a bite from a local playful puppy. They are both very thoughtful and kind. The grounds are peaceful, calm and quiet and the garden is beautiful. The rooms were very clean and spacious, and the shower was great. The breakfasts were a big hit with the whole family, as was the curry we had one evening. Kirinuga is a short walk along a track so it is away from the road, meaning we heard no traffic noise. The local beach is really picturesque and has multiple beach restaurants. All in all, a great place to stay near to Tangalle.

Excellent breakfast! Probably the best in Sri Lanka hotels. Smoothie could have been included in breakfast, that's pretty standard from our experience after traveling in Asian countries but still amazing breakfast and tasty coffee. Very nice garden

“Great”

The hotel is really an escape into a serene. There are 3 dogs which are absolutely adorable. The manager is german and is always in for a chat. Breakfast was great (could be a little bit more). It is located just 2 min from the sea and beach. Everything is decorated lovely and meets the induvidual theme of the room. We dtayed in the „shell“ room and you could find shells literally everywhere. :)

We loved our stay, the property was beautiful. Room was very nice and peaceful. Bed was so comfortable, outdoor bathroom with outdoor shower, no hot water. Good wifi and delicious breakfast.

Love the place, if I ever had a house in tropics I would copy many details from this property, for ex Shala, roof area for yoga/training/meditation with sunset and you can even see the sea from there. Good variation on the fantastic breakfast. You can hear and see so many different birds on the tree tops from the shala, fantastic experience. Good sleep even with fan only.
