“Calm courtyard by the sea”

Lovely little resort with beautiful morning views of the sunrise. The room was clean and very spacious and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We tried both the Western and Sri Lankan breakfast and both were delicious, in particular the Ambul Thiyal which was a new dish I hadn’t yet tried in Sri Lanka.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay here. The room, location and the staff were all amazing. We would have loved to stay longer and are already planning to come back for a much longer stay. This place truly is paradise and I can't wait to return.

The hotel is right on the sea which is fantastic. The room was huge and spacious with a great bed and a great shower. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant served very good breakfast, lunch and dinner, and was well stocked with all kinds of drinks. The host drove us to a pharmacy on such short notice which was very much appreciated. We felt very well looked after by our host!

The location of the resort is superb and is beach front. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious.

Great location right on the beach, with an in house restaurant and one next door that both served up delicious options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Big room and comfy bed. Very welcoming hosts too.

“Dishonest Price Manipulation and Last Minute Cancellation..”

The price shown on Booking.com was USD 44. When I contacted the property directly, they suddenly claimed the price was USD 70. I clearly told them I would only pay the confirmed Booking.com price. After that, they said 'fine' and confirmed the room, both by phone and via WhatsApp. After repeatedly confirming the booking, they cunningly cancelled at the very last minute, leaving us without accommodation during high season. This was not a mistake it felt like a deliberate cancellation in retaliation because I refused to pay a higher price than what was confirmed. Because of their behaviour, our entire travel plan was completely disrupted, and we could not find another place at such short notice. If they did not want to honour the Booking.com price, they should have cancelled earlier instead of misleading us until the last moment. This is rude, unethical, and untrustworthy behaviour. I strongly believe local guests are treated unfairly. Avoid this property. They do not respect confirmed prices or confirmed bookings.

“Excellent”

It was one of the best stays we had in Sri Lanka, with amazing value for both price and location. You get a beautiful pool, and right in front of you — the endless ocean. They also have lovely benches and tables where you can enjoy food or drinks with that stunning view. From the property you can take long walks along a raw, untouched-by-tourists beach. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind, and we truly regret not staying longer (we originally booked just one night and ended up extending for another).

We were kindly welcomed by host and the staff. The hotel is not big, there was never much crowd. Hotel rooms are spacious, nicely designed, with comfortable beds. Every day we had a really good breakfast: we mostly took Sri Lankan breakfast (dal curry, coconut sambol, string hoppers), always including great fresh fruit juices and fruit. Most of the time we also had dinner: the lobster dinner was spectacular and the price was really fair. The Rekawa village is very nice, calm and safe, it is good to take walks around it. The turtle watching spot and the natural swimming pool are about 15 minutes away by walking. But the best thing about Guru beach is the swimming pool: because of the trees that surround it, a part of the pool is always in the shade. The water in it is clean and nicely "decorated" with a few fallen leaves - you just don't want to leave it!
