“Best place in Tangalle”
Coconut Island is the perfect place to relax in Tangalle Beach. The outdoor area at the Lagoone is particularly beautiful, where we often all ate together in the evenings. The food is excellent and always fresh. I think it's particularly good that the host speaks very good English and is there for all guests. He makes sure that everyone feels comfortable and strives to fulfill all wishes. It is truly an exceptional place and I can highly recommend Coconut Island. Plus, the beautiful Tangalle Beach is right around the corner.

This is my second visit this year! I love kayaking on the lagoon. Also the fish dinner is so fresh and tasty. Gayan is not only the owner but an excellent cook! I could hang around here for weeks watching the birds, drinking fresh juice and relaxing by the lagoon.

I like everything about this place as its so understated and great value.The food is wonderful and Gayan tries really hard to get everything right.Bedroom with balcony is just great for us.Second time we have stayed here on our trip to Sri Lanka.I am working in Sri Lanka on a project to its a great place to get away when I'm not working.

“Wonderful stay right on the lagoon”
Coconut Island is set right on the lagoon,the only accommodation in this area to do so.We took Kayaks early morning and early evening up and down the lagoon.

“A place to make you smile”
I had a great stay at Coconut island. The train from Colombo goes to Belliata, apparently this is a new line, which made the journey so much quicker. My arrival was met with a warm welcome from Gayan, a fresh juice at the cafe bar set by the lagoon was most enjoyable. The room was comfy and included a mosquitos net over the bed which was such a relief because mosquitoes see me coming. The photo's on line do not do this place justice, as the whole place has been refurbished this year. A top tip is to take a kayak up and down the lagoon.

“Enormous Fish! and excellent host”
Tranquility of being by the lagoon. Afternoon spent on a canoe on the lagoon, watching birds and wildlife. Very authrntic Sri Lanka Breakfast. The most enormous fish at dinner i have ever seen!

“Wonderful stay, fabulous host!”
The Location is fabulous. Cabana Huts by the side of a lagoon which is teaming with wildlife. We were met by Gayan (the owner) at Beliata, having taken the train. It was wonderful to be met by a smiling, happy person who gave us so much info about the area even before we had arrived at Coconut Island. I really enjoyed sitting by the lagoon having breakfast, watching the varans and the birds. Had a lovely quiet room and spent a lot of time sitting around on the lovely day beds, with the occasional walk to the beach. Also, not to be missed is a walk up the beach (keeping the sea on your right) and you may be lucky enough to see turtles in Rekawa Turtle Sanctuary! Gayan is also a fisherman and you can eat his fresh catch in the evenings, as well as different fresh local foods. We had such a good stay and for sure will be back again soon. Luckily for me, I am travelling around southern Sri Lanka and I will return!
