Amazing location, host and chef in one, surroundings. Food was stunning.

It is an amazing, peaceful place located between the lagoon and the beach. In the evening you can see baby turtles at the beach, if you are lucky enough. The host Don is super kind and helpful, the breakfast was really tasty. The room offers hot water, a fridge, a water kettle and the most comfortable pillows i had in 3 months of travelling! I would love to come back and stay for a longer time, thank you so much!

“Perfect home stay close to tje tirtles un”

The location only a few minutes walking to "turtle beach" was perfect, our host took us personally to see them, he has been very helpful. It is very nice to have breakfast on your terrace with the squirrels and peacocks than visit the garden every.mornimg

Don is a wonderful host who went above and beyond in making my stay fantastic! The room has a strong and warm (!!!) water pressure and lots of space. Excellent location near the turtle beach and restaurats. And the home cooked breakfast was sooooo good!

“Peaceful stay with an incredible host”

Don was so hospitable and welcoming; when we arrived he showed us around the area and the following day walked us to a local, secluded beach where we swam with and fed turtles (this was the highlight of my trip!). We ate at Amour on both nights during our stay - it was by far the best food we ate during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Overall, Don’s hospitality, knowledge of the local area and cooking were fantastic. We will always remember this stay. Thank you Don.

We liked everything. For us, it was the best location in our 3 week holidays. It is such a shame we had planned to move on. The location is gorgeous. The people are incredibly nice without overdoing it. Birds, squirrels - if you like it all natural, idyllic and quiet, perfect place. Breakfast really good.

We came back after three years cause we loved this place so much. Best place in this area - the nicest beach, amazing host and lovely apartment. A bit remote, but tuktuks are always available. Don Is a wonderful host, always happy to help.

Don and Mala couldn’t have been more helpful. Good food, brilliant location and beautiful, peaceful surroundings.Amazing pristine beach, a conservation area for turtles with no beds, just small shacks set back. Will definately return!

Lovely tranquil spot. Our hosts were extremely hospitable organising scooters, breakfast and drivers for us. The location is amazing and the room was really clean and relaxing. 10/10 would recommend

“Comfy, clean home stay style”

Amour is well located near the beach and restaurants. Close to the turtle beach but you cannot swim there. Amour just has 2 rooms and is more like a home stay but there is no one on site apart from arrival/ departure and breakfast. Don was very responsive and breakfast was enormous and all requests were sorted such as gluten free. Laundry service was also no problem. Don prefers cash which we didn’t know so as we didn’t have cash he borrowed a card machine which had a 2% surcharge which Don offered to waive but we accepted the charge. It would have been good to know up front Maybe it was us but we just expected a larger place with more rooms and some central sitting area apart from the bedroom balconies. Having said that we couldn’t fault Don and the service.

“Improvements can be done”

I stayed at this place just one night. Unfortunately, no turtles came on 2nd of January… Amour at the turtle beach is very close to the place, where turtles lay eggs. You do not have to pay 2’000 and wait for the turtles on the beach, you would be informed, if they come. I liked their breakfast arranged earlier than they usually serve. There was an omelette, hopper, sweet rolled pancakes, fruits and tea / coffee. Teakettle, tea bags, coffee, sugar, dry milk and bottled water are provided in the room. It is also air conditioned.

“Unforgettable Stay with Beautiful Beach and Turtles”

Amazing stay at a beautiful and peaceful place! The accommodation was perfect—very clean, comfortable bed, and well-equipped. The host was adorable, attentive, and always available. The location is ideal, and the breakfast was really good too. We went to see the turtles in the evening and were lucky enough to witness a turtle laying her eggs—and even saw some baby turtles making their way to the sea! Such an incredible experience. The beach is absolutely stunning. A true haven of peace.

The room is big and comfy. The couple renting the place are incredibly nice and sweet. The beach is very close und huge but be aware that there is nothing much in the area. A few restaurants are close by but you can have all meals on your balcony/ terrace.

We only have good words to say about Don’s place. Even though it was off season, Don both spent lots of time making us feel at home in Rekawa. We really appreciated the breakfast and being shown Sri Lankan cuisine! The cooking was excellent. It was very peaceful and homely, and although we didn’t take him up on the offer, we are glad he also provided day trip options. The room was clean and tidy, and we loved the balcony to watch the animals. If someone we knew were planning a trip near Rekawa we would both recommend Don’s place and his kindness wholeheartedly.

We had a great time here and really enjoyed the four days. Don took fantastic care of us and cooked delicious meals for us in the evenings. He is an excellent cook and bought fresh fish and scampi especially for us. The breakfast was also excellent and plentiful. You can also ask Don if you want to go on excursions in the area or need a driver. He is very helpful and has good ideas for daytrips. We went on two trips with Don (one for the whole day and one for a few hours) and it was great. The price he charged for the trips and his waiting time was also very fair. The house is located right between the lagoon and the huge, beautiful Rekawa Beach, where you can also take part in guided sea turtle tours. During the day, access to the beach is free, but in the evening (from 7 p.m.) you can only go to the beach with a guide. During the day, we took long walks on the very clean beach (it's a nature reserve) which is not suitable for swimming (waves are too high). There are also a few beach bars along the beach and a couple of restaurants in the vicinity. In the evening (after Don's delicious dinner), we loved sitting on the huge balcony outside our room.
