“Very disappointing stay – not suitable for groups”
We stayed here as a group of six, but the actual space was very different from what was described on Booking.com. Although it was listed as accommodating six people, the room was extremely small and in reality could only fit about two people comfortably. It is not suitable for six guests. The host’s attitude was also very unpleasant. On one occasion, when we were filling a water bottle in the restroom, some water was accidentally spilled on the floor, and the host reacted by loudly scolding us. This made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Such behavior is not welcoming to guests and negatively affected our overall experience. In addition, the price was close to 8000JPY per night. Considering the poor accommodation conditions, this price is extremely unreasonable and does not reflect the quality provided. The value for money is very low. Overall, we would not recommend this place for groups. The difference between the listing and the actual conditions was significant. The photos and description did not reflect the actual conditions.

“More a shack than an apartment, never again”
Host had excellent English and was very quick, efficient on messages. Location also quite nice at the edge of the village. While there was some effort made to lighten the place up it failed to change that the place was hardly fit to stay. The host clearly has her heart set on the lovely cafe she runs in the middle of the village. That IS an excellent place.

Shino-san's accommodation is perfect for resting after the day's hike, but also if one were to stay a few days in Chikatsuyu. We were very comfortable for the night, and the dinner and breakfast provided by Shino-san were fantastic. My wife's old injuries had begun to flare up, and Shino-san very kindly helped us arrange a takkyubin with the liquor store owner opposite her cafe. She runs a very tight ship, and we were very impressed with how she did that, and and was kind while at it.

“Peaceful place to stay while walking the Nakahechi”
The location is beautiful and peaceful, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the village. Lovely terrace to enjoy the views and stars at night. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Shino was really welcoming and helpful. The food she made us for dinner was delicious and we also had an amazing breakfast in her cafe in the village.

A very lovely house inside a small village, not too far from the stamp location. The house is clean and cozy with a very beautiful view. The owner is also very friendly and helpful, a very good stop during the Kumano Kodo trip.

“Chilling, Close to nature, Refreshing”
Love it. It's my second night in Shino's guest house (1st night is in takahara). The location is much better here, only 10 min walk from Chikastuyu-oji. We have Beigo & egg & salad & coffee for breakfast, and shino even prepared salmon for lunchbox. I was refreshed by the lunchbox during second day's walk. The house is facing rice farms. Very green outside. Frogs, fireflies are around. You can also see stars outside (unfortunately it's cloudy on my stay). A chilling place.

“Beautiful outlook”
This accommodation was very clean and tidy. Great facilities for cooking your own food and also for sharing space. Well suited to a small group. Outlook onto the Rice fields was pretty amazing. The host has thought of almost everything, so very comfortable. Shino was amazing to deal with. She responded quickly to any queries and questions. The bento boxes she prepared, along with breakfast and lunch were beautiful.

Great find in the heart of Kumano. Rustic but very well maintained and spotless clean. Essentially, you and in the midst or rice fields of an authentic working village. Shino is attentive, kind and runs a tight ship. The Japanese dinner she made was delicious, elaborate, beautifully presented and good value. The breakfast at her great travel-themed cafe in the centre of the village was a treat too.

A simple cabin with everything provided. Shino is helpful, and knowledgeable on Kumano Kodo trekking. She provide us insightful information, and it did help alot. Her café is located nearby bus stop which is very convenient for us to catch the bus right after the breakfast. Not forget to mention about the meal provided, yummy and delicious. Shino also help us arrange for daily luggage transfer, and very responsive on any issues arising. Kudos to Shino.

“Cosy and calm in a small village, perfect!”
Very cosy and a beautiful view on rice fields and the moutains, quite magical with the stars at night. Shino is very joyful and welcoming, a real pleasure to meet her ! Her cafe is well located near the bus stop so you can have breakfast there the day after, really recommend.
