Amazing hidden paradise with an extremely kind and friendly owner, who is also a natural-born entertainer playing Sevillanas in the evening. The food was exceptionally good, both the dinner and breakfast. The views from the terrace and rooms are impeccable. Best stay during the Kumano Kodo.

“Wonderful, memorable stay”
We’ve stayed at a lot of quality places during our trip to Japan, but I had to give this one 10/10 as it was really a stand-out for us… Comfortable room (with balcony) and lovely onsen facilities, all with breathtaking views, but the thing that really makes the place exceptional is the ambience and the warm reception that you get from the hosts. Jan is so much fun and makes the place feel really homey (especially in the evenings). We were also super impressed with the quality and creativity of the cooking. If you’re hiking the Kumano Kodo, worth a stop at Takahara (rather than powering through to Chikatsuyu) just so you can stay at this place!

This was the best stay we had in Japan. The family that runs it is absolutely amazing. The view of the valley and mountains is great. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The rooms are traditional (futon beds) or a mix of traditional and modern (western style beds). But really what makes this place special is the human touch and the love for flamenco and the Spanish guitar that they show. The owner has 2 guitars and is ready to jam together after dinner :)

“Beautiful views, outstanding hospitality, and unforgettable homemade meals – a truly exceptional stay.”
The accommodation was exactly as expected – comfortable, well-equipped, and perfect for a relaxing stay. The views are truly stunning, overlooking the mountains and the valley, which made the stay even more special. The host was exceptionally kind and attentive, always having a few nice words for everyone during dinner, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The shared dinners and conversations added a special touch to the experience. The food was especially delicious and homemade – truly one of the best meals I had during my trip in Japan. Overall, this is a high-quality accommodation supported by a very helpful and caring family. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for both comfort and outstanding hospitality.

“Magical”
Well,if a place is truly magical, it’s hard to say is it the housing, the food, the location or the people. In a magical place it all plays together like the most sincere piece of art. Do come here if you have a chance.
