It is such a cute place, in an old japanese house. Location is just perfect for those who want to go to Naoshima or Teshima! Beds are very comfortable

Quiet and comfortable space within close distance to the train station and port. It was perfect for our overnight stop on the way to Teshima Island. The room had everything we needed to relax after a day of travel via train and the beds were extremely comfortable. The communication with the host was excellent as well. We were able to ask questions before we arrived and have them answered promptly. We felt confident staying here.

It's a traditional Machiya style hostel. it's great to get the experience of living in an vintage home in Japan. And the internet speed is unbelievably fast😂

“Super fine stay for one night”

Very well located, near to the harbor and the train station. Cute little guesthouse, fine for one night.

Loved the place‘s atmosphere, including browsing through the books in the kitchen area. Staff was super nice, too. It is super convenient location if you want to check out Naoshima and the other islands, just few minutes by foot to the ferry pier. It is a capsule hostel, but slept very well. Very close by you will also find restaurants, a supermarket, convenience stores, the stations. Can recommend when you want to check out the area/islands.

Old Japanese style house Big living space for Social & chill

Comfortable bed with curtain, socket & light, enough space for bags in the room. Room.temp was easy to control with efficient aircon. I stayed in both the mixed dorm and the women's dorm - the women's dorm had more space for bags, natural light, and a little (tiny!) vanity area; the mixed dorm had less space to move around in but still enough bag storage and the bed size was the same I liked the fact the mixed dorm had an automatic light (bed curtains were thick enough that the light did not distract when someone got up to use the bathroom). I didn't get the chance to use the kitchen facilities but it's nice that they have space for guests to cook. Tea & coffee provided. Although the kitchen is closed at night (there are quite a lot of little house rules but the staff are so lovely and their requests are all pretty reasonable really), the kettle, fridge & microwave are still accessible. It's a lovely house - a 100+ year old building - with simple but comfortable common areas and plenty of space to leave bags after checkout.

It turns out there was no place available for two nights although I’d reserved and paid in advance on booking.com. Apparently they’d assumed I was female and had booked me in the all female room. Worse there was no refund ‘per booking.com regulations’.

“Friendly Traditional Japanese House - Hostel in a good location to visit Naoshima Museum island.”

Good location between Okayama and a ferry to the art museum island of Naoshima. The hostel is a charming traditional Japanese house with tatami mats, sliding doors, low ceilings in some parts, and very steep polished wood stairs. Two lounges for relaxing, and a big kitchen / microwave for self catering. Friendly and helpful reception and staff. The owner runs a nearby bookshop and bar which is worth visiting.
