Overview
Bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve, Basecamp Masai Mara offers eco-friendly, luxury camping in the heart of the savannah. The basecamp features panoramic views of the surroundings and local wildlife. The spacious tents are built on wooden platforms with thatched-roofs, and include en suite bathrooms with open air, solar-heated showers. Each features a veranda overlooking the Talek River. Guests at Masai Mara Basecamp can enjoy a drink at the open air bar and relax on the viewing fig-tree platform. Also offered are game drives by professional Masai guides as well as optional night game drives. Mara Lodges Airport is 50 km away from Masai Mara Basecamp while Ol Kiombo Airstrip is 23.3 km away. Transfers and transport can be arranged for a surcharge.

“Surreal experience!”
Amazing stay at Basecamp!! Everything was perfect and game drives were such a magical experience. Our guide Bandi was very professional, experienced and friendly. The staffs were very friendly 😊

Breakfast was very good as expected. Lunch/dinner had limited options, but were very good and choice was adequate. The tent was spacious enough. Staff escort for movement after dark was efficient. An added attraction was the location by the side of the river, providing beautiful scenery in the serene atmosphere.

It was our second visit to Mara NP, but our first time sleeping within these grounds. Waking up with a river view and having zebras or hyenas or giraffes looking right across is mesmerising. The tent was clean, comfortable and spacious enough for three persons. Esmo was assigned to take care of us at meal times and he did a wonderful job. The meals were freshly prepared and very good. It was like a set menu and there was always a vegeterian option. The Masai also made us feel safe in the evening while escorting us.

Location was nice but the once in a lifetime trip was ruined by unethical behavior of staff and unprofessional management. If I had my time again I would choose another company
