had an absolutely amazing stay at this gorgeous guesthouse! Nestled in a quiet, beautiful tropical paradise within a cozy village, the place offers a lovely dormitory where you basically get a room to yourself — with a maximum of two people per dorm. The bathroom is spotless and beautifully designed, and there’s a charming little garden where you can relax and unwind. But the best part was the incredible hospitality of the owner. He’s such a kind, friendly, and helpful person! One night, he even took us on a wonderful excursion — completely free of charge — where we watched the stars, played with coconut crabs, and tried some local alcohol. It was just amazing! Truly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in.

Amazing place. The host is super friendly young person. Every night there is a gathering with other guests where you can easily chat and share your stories! I recommend especially for people traveling solo. Not many places like this in Japan

“Lovely stay in Taketomi”

It was lovely to stay here especially because of the owner. He was very friendly so other guest and I talked with him a lot having Awamori in the evening. :) Air conditioner was not in every each of the rooms but with big fans there, it was ok for me to sleep in my room. The shower rooms (there’re two) and toilets were clean, no problems at all. : )

Let it be clear. This is a guesthouse. But what you lack in privacy, you win in warmth and in meeting new people. Huge bonus: when told that my son was very into wildlife, Ayumi, our host, went out of her way and found him a coconut crab to observe. We were really made to feel welcome and the place is clean and well kept. Really nice atmosphere in the evenings around a glass of the local sake. Also, the guesthouse’s bike rental is for 24h, so it was really nice to ride around in the dark.

Ayumi is a great host, she has everything clean, well organised and makes you feel like at home. It is a good chance to experience Taketomi from a rural perspective, and also she offers all the guests a drink at night which allows you to meet other guests! A very warming experience. In addition she helped us plan our trip to another island. Thank you for everything!

“Wonderful place to discover the island and make new friends”

I stayed at the guesthouse for a few nights in early January. There was a very welcoming atmosphere. During the evenings usually everyone staying at the guesthouse gathered which made it easy to meet people! Probably the atmosphere depends a lot on the people staying at the time, but I highly recommend for solo travelers. Also the dorm room is separated in a way it feels like you are in a room with only 2 people (one bunk bed). The place is very different from other accommodations on the island, because it is not a traditional guesthouse. Generally the island seems like a place people usually come for only one day, so it is very interesting to walk around in the evenings after the last boat has left.

The accommodation is really nicely located. In the middle of the village and not far from Kondoi beach. The staff is very friendly and everyone comes together in the evening to drink awamori and chat. You get to know new people every evening. In the evening you go together to watch the starry sky or look for fireflies.
