Overview
Ryokan Kyotoya is 2 minutes from JR Takeo Onsen Train Station via the hotel’s free shuttle. It features natural hot-spring baths and multi-course Japanese meals in an elegant classical setting. Guests at Kyotoya can experience Japan’s unique tatami (woven-straw) floors and traditional futon bedding. Massage services and a sauna make it easy to unwind, and guests can relax in the open-air hot-spring baths. Koto Cafe serves coffee. Kyotoya Ryokan is located near the centre of Takeo City, just a 5-minute walk from Keishu-en Garden. It is an 8-minute walk from JR Takeo Onsen Train Station.

“Lovely room and staff in a beautiful location.”
Lovely traditional room and very nice and helpful staff on the reception desk. Great location, Takeo and surrounding area is beautiful with hot onsens and lovely scenery, and there are regular trains to the cities of Nagasaki and Sasebo.

“Excellent little getaway”
The staff was super friendly, the reception area is filled with antiques, even a beautiful music player. The onsen is small but excellent, and the room had a great view of the mountain range and fragrant tatami mats

This hotel brings a lot of vintage japanese and quiet vibes, I loved it! For me the biggest surprise was that even that I expected not to have breakfast there, they did serve some bread, croissant and salty things in the morning with was good and presentation was on point!

location: restaurants & a local supermarket within walking distance. about 10 mins walk to the train station. close to main tourist sites, like the city library, the old city gate, Mifuneyama Rakuen(for maple leaves) staff: super friendly & helpful! Many of them fluent in English. Those who aren't will use translators, so no problem communicating. free mini breakfast buffet: variety is limited, but the bread is very delicious. front hall: in Taishō era style. Great for taking pictures and enjoying free coffee.

Traditional place and clean. Simple breakfast. Room size is ok. They got hot spring bath. The staff was nice to explain some of their antiques display. Overall if you are exploring Takeo , you can consider Kyotoya.

“Good stay and good experience”
I like the ambience and the deco of the hotel. The star was the gramaphone and the grandma which is a staff that intro the guest on the gramaphone and the several music boxes at the foyer.

“We wanted to stay somewhere peaceful to relax after travelling in Japan and the hotel was perfect for this”
It was a gracious old style onsen hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and a very good breakfast was provided. The lobby was fascinating and really conveyed the style of another era. We really enjoyed the onsen baths.

Lovely place with a sense of history, a short walk from the station. Really friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the onsen. Morning was a highlight, from the delicious breakfast to the coffee in the lounge with an antique Reginaphone music box.

“A great Retro experience.”
The staff were excellent and sincerely tried to welcome me to Takeo onsen (e.g. room upgrade). I only stayed one night to break the trip en route to Nagasaki, although I really enjoyed exploring the city. Access to the extensive, easily accessible on-site onsen facilities was memorable, as was the personal tour of the many historical items in the foyer. The building and facilities are older, although well built, and that's part of the charm of this Retro experience. The morning breakfast was an excellent addition, as were the yukatas. The locals were very friendly and helpful, even by Japanese standards, imho.. it may be something in the water!? ;).
