This stay was a highlight of our Japan trip. The lady who runs the Ryokan is very sweet and welcoming, despite us not speaking any Japanese. The ryokan itself is very sweet and clean, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The best part was the beautiful indoor and outdoor onsen open 24 hours. The Japanese breakfast was also exceptional. I would recommend this to anyone wanting an authentic Ryokan experience in Japan, and will be returning!

Mrs kinoshita is a lovely old lady that runs the place single handed. Her cooking was the best of our time in Japan. Ask for the room with toilet and sink. It was massive. The outdoor onsen was always free and private. Bus stop is a few minutes walk away. Perfect location for exploring caves, waterfalls and the cable car.

The place was absolutely charming - it felt like staying at a Japanese grandmother’s home. The host was an elderly woman who ran the entire pension herself and prepared amazing food. The property is beautiful and very traditional, with its own private natural onsen. The only downside is that there are no showers in the rooms or even in the building - you can only shower in the onsen area. It wasn’t a big issue, considering the overall experience

Loved everything. The location is beautiful, far away and a bit tricky to get there but beautiful. The owners are lovely, very kind and respectful. They even picked us up from the bus station because we didn't know there were not buses after 17hs. It was raining a lot and they picked us up and drove us to the pension. We are very grateful for that. The food is amazing! I loved every breakfast and dinner. The love and passion they put on the preparation is wonderful. For me it was the best traditional food I tried in Japan. The onsen where as expected, I enjoyed them a lot. The rooms were very big and comfortable, with enough space for luggage. The owners don't speak English but communicate through a tablet so it was very easy to ask things.

“A wonderful experience In a wooden Japanese house surrounded by nature.”
A wonderful experience staying in an old wooden Japanese house surrounded by nature, complete with its own onsen. The house has a retro feel and a Zen beauty of simplicity. Despite the cold weather and snow on the day we arrived, the rooms were very comfortable and warm. I was a bit sceptical about the shared bathroom, but it turned out to be very pleasant. The indoor and outdoor onsens were both the perfect temperature, but the outdoor onsen in the garden, surrounded by the fallen leaves of November, added a dreamlike touch. Mrs Kinoshita was very discreet yet did everything she could to make us feel welcome, including preparing a special vegetarian menu for me. Communication was easy as she was skilled at using a tablet with a translation app in our language. The food was AMAZING — some of the best we had in Japan!

The Japanese breakfast and dinner is made with so much love and finesse, absolutely delicious. The aged owners can communicate in every language via their tablet, so cute. Inner and outer onsen are very authentic.

“We are grateful to the hotel owners for a wonderful time.”
The food was delicious and varied. We really enjoyed the hot springs; the water was a comfortable temperature, and it was great to relax in the fresh air after the baths, with a comfortable spot on the veranda. The room was wonderful, unusually large for Japan, with a variety of beds (Japanese-style or Western-style).
