Overview
A 3-minute walk from Hirayu Onsen Bus Terminal, Okada Ryokan Warakutei features Japanese-style accommodations with mountain views. Guests can relax in the public indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths or reserve a private bath including a sauna at a charge. Massages are also available. Rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Guests can relax in their rooms by watching the flat-screen satellite TV and they can store food in the fridge. The en suite bathroom comes with slippers for all guests. Local products can be purchased at the souvenir shop and guests can look out at the beautiful Japanese garden. Spa Warukatei offers open-air hot spring baths that can be used privately at a charge, upon advance reservation. Traditional multi-course meals featuring seasonal ingredients are served for dinner. The famous Hida beef can be tasted depending on the season. All meals are served in the dining room. Room service is available from 15:00-20:00. Part of Oku-Hida Spa Village, Ryokan Warakutei Okada is a 5-minute drive from Hirayu Onsen Ski Resort and a 30-minute drive from Kamikochi Area. Mt. Norikura is a 10-minute drive and JR Takayama Train Station is a 1-hour drive away. The area can be reached in 4 hours via a Keio bus from Shinjuku Station. Futon beds will be prepared when guests check in as a part of the efforts to control infections.

“Great short stay for our family”
The staff were very welcoming and accomodating. We were late to check in for dinner so they left our dinner in the room, which was very nice. Onsen is great too and we enjoyed our stay

We arrived late in the evening, the lady receptionist was still waiting for us with a smile and dinner was kept for us in the room, thank you so much. We had a really good stay in our spacious room, comfortable futon, lovely onsen, and great meals. Wished we could stay longer.

Amazing view from our room, the room was spacious and fully equipped. They also provided us yukatas and outer wear. The onses were amazing, and importantly TATTOO FRIENDLY!! Even with the open air bath. Meals were okay but the service is what impressed me most. The staff with the glasses tried to introduce the dishes to us in English and he was super nice and kind. He made our dining experience!! Highly recommend if you ever stay in the area.

The restaurant staff were professional, polite, and genuinely hospitable. Service in the dining area was efficient, respectful, and aligned with true Japanese hospitality. The contrast in attitude made it clear that the restaurant team understands customer service and takes pride in their work.

“Wonderful onsens”

“Poor Onsen”
The onsen is extremely poor as the water temperature is very low, I think even below 38 degree celsius as the shower water is much warmer than the onsen water , no matter inside or outside for the male and female onsen. Hirayu Onsen is famous for their onsen but it is really disappointing and not worthwhile for paying the onsen taxes which is compulsory.

1. There are several hot springs, including sulfur springs, comfortable. However, both the outdoor and indoor hot springs do not have filters, there is a lot of mud and dust.
