“Wonderful”

My second time staying in this ryokan and it is still just as awesome as the first stay. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The room is clean and well- stocked with amenities. You will get to choose how you want room cleaning services. I chose no daily cleaning but requested towel change daily for my 4 night's stay. The in-room onsen overlooking yhe forest is lovely. There are 2 beautifully landscaped outdoor onsens and 2 indoor private tubs for use by the whole hotel. First come first serve basis, 30min each use. The lady and men 汤 have super hot saunas and superb hot tubs. I highly recommend sauna & a cold dip n then go sit in that 42deg tub for total relaxation! Meals were substantial. Very filling and very pleasing to the eyes. The service is impeccable, as always. Hotel is very close to the bus station where you may buy tickets to Kamikochi at a fairly cheap price. The ride to beautiful Kamikochi is only 30min. There is a day-use onsen facility with foodcourt near the bus station too but unfortunately it was close during the time I went.

wonderful onsen experience, with a traditional touch we used the bath in our room, the private and the public baths and all were incredible the location was splendid and the views from the restaurant stunning one of the most relaxing stays ever

Fantastic onssen, they provide extra food and drink like ice cream, marshmallows, ramen... Great room and location. Also staff are very nice.

The kaiseiki set dinner and breakfast was so fine and generous with Hida beef in dinner set Bedroom window facing the nature. There is private open air onsen right next to nature. The experience is so relaxing. The staff ia friendly and well trained. Complimentary ramen was provided foe supper. Is only few minutes walk from Hirayu onsen Bus terminal. This bus terminal has buses going direct to Shinjiku and Takayama to extend your next destination after you are done with Kamikochi.

Great location in Hirayu. Easy walk to bus and (very few) restaurants. Lovely private onsen.

The open air bath and the private outdoor Onsen in the woods are really unique and very very special.

The set up of rooms are great. The dining room has amazing views to the mountains. The food was great, breakfast and dinner, both Japanese style. Staff were great too. I tried the private Onsen which was great, although it needs a bench or good arms chairs to chill out after the hot bath. Otherwise all was beautiful!

Beautiful property. The staff were all lovely and the Onsen were enjoyable. Our room was really spacious and comfortable.

A great place to enjoy the Onsen experience. The rooms were nice and the private bath were just perfect for us as a family with 2 kids. Loved the special attentions with the outdoor fireplace and free marshmallows. Our kids loved it. And us too…! We then also enjoyed 1 day trekking to kamikochi - easy 5 min walk from the hotel to the big bus stop that offer bus rotations to kamikochi every 30 min (as cars are not allowed in Kamikochi)

Great spa facilities and amazing food

We had an amazing time at Miyama Ouan. All the staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The room itself was large and comfortable, the hot spring bath was amazing. The hotel site was lovely and there were lots of nice touches (e.g. marshmallows to roast over fire pit). The onsens were great and we were always able to use one of the private ones without waiting. Close to bus terminal and easy to navigate for day trip to Kamikochi and onward travel to Matsumoto. We came away from our stay feeling extremely relaxed and wanting to return to Miyama Ouan again in the future!

“A relaxing experience in a lovely setting”

A lovely experience in a great setting. We enjoyed the traditional meals, wearing the clothing provided and the private onsen in our bathroom. We were able to control the temperature as 42 degrees in the public onsen was too hot for us!

Onsen, lunch, hotel

We chose this ryokan mainly for the onsen, but were not informed that it would be closed during the morning hours before check-out. As a result, we were unable to use it at all that day, which was the main reason for our booking. Staff later acknowledged that this information had not been communicated, yet no compensation or goodwill gesture was offered. At this price level, this lack of communication is disappointing. Future guests may want to double-check onsen availability in advance or consider other options.

“Best onsen, best services, best view!”

Best traditional ryokan style we’ve stayed.. I love kind of traditional, old looks, their facilities are in very good shape of course. I love their onsen, their restaurant and its view.. their outside balcony.. so relaxing and peaceful staying at this ryokan.. thank you so much for help and services.. we will back in future!
