Wonderful setting. Great private onsens with thermal spring water from the mountains - 2 wonderful outdoor, 3 indoor. Onsens are opened 24h. Large traditional Japanese rooms..Very good traditional Japanese meals (breakfast, dinner). Very nice host who speaks some English

“The kind of place you don't want to leave”

EVERYTHING!!! This ryokan felt like a little hidden sanctuary in the mountains. So peaceful, surrounded by nature, and full of warmth in every detail. The private onsens were all beautiful, but the outdoor ones were truly unforgettable. There’s something magical about relaxing in hot water while surrounded by the mountains and the sounds of nature. Takizawa and his family were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with genuine care. You can really feel the love and attention they put into this place. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely amazing. Every dish was delicious, and even the presentation on the beautiful plates made the experience feel special and thoughtful. More than just a stay, this felt like a place where I could truly slow down, breathe, and let go for a while. I left feeling relaxed, recharged, and very grateful to have experienced it.

The food was soooo good, the location, the onsen and the staff was terrific. Booking.com states it's shared showers, but these are the showers in the private onsen! So no need to worry, this is the best place to experience Japan!

We had an absolutely perfect stay and were 100% satisfied from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome throughout our visit. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious, with great variety and high-quality ingredients — a real highlight of our stay. The accommodation itself was very comfortable, clean, and full of charm. We also really enjoyed the onsen facilities, both indoor and outdoor, which were relaxing and beautifully maintained — the perfect way to unwind. We only stayed for one night, but it was a fantastic experience and we would definitely love to come back. Highly recommended!

In such a peaceful spot in the mountains to unwind… bus was easy to catch to arrive at the property. The food was sensational, every bite was prepared with care and was extremely tasty. Very close to Shinhotaka Ropeway. The outdoor onsens were also wonderful.

We absolutely loved our experience at Minshuku Takizawa! Great place, clean, spacious, amazing private Onsen, the best dinner and breakfast experience. The person looking after us was super nice and helpful, and so polite. We definitely recommend, would love to come back!!

Wow, what an amazing stay we had here from start to finish. We stumbled on this place last minute when we decided we wanted a little more time in the mountains and I am so grateful that we did, it was the most perfect hidden gem for our stay. Warm, kind, welcoming and genuinely caring staff that make the stay feel like you’re at home, they couldn’t have done more for us. They took us to the ropeway in the car when it was raining, always helped with our bags, dropped us off at the shuttle. The food was amazing and such good value for money and of course I can’t leave this review and not mention the onsen. Just beautiful from start to finish, couldn’t recommend this place more if you want to feel like you’re at home surrounded by warm, kind human beings. Thankyou so much.

5 private onsen baths .... 2 outside.... just for the 8 rooms The host ..the chef ... the waitress ... possibly all doing a bit of everything... were fabulous ... friendly ... interesting... proud of their family ryoken .... The food was fantastic.... the best breakfast ever .... supper ... a joint best ... And the valley is soooo beautiful ... A traditional place with separate shared but immaculate toilets.... no showers except in the onsen ... but build by the current hosts father 80 years ago ... but I suspect based on timbers or a building far older ..... it felt like japanese history alive today

The staff went out of their way to make our stay as good as possible. They even cooked for us even if we didn't make a reservation.(Our mistake) All in all great.

The hosts were exceptionally helpful. You get private access to the Onsen which are very well maintained. And the traditional Japanese food was delicious.

Everybody including the owners are so nice and helpful. They speak sufficient English to get along well. The Onsen baths are great, private use, the outside Onsen under the clear sky is a hit. Breakfast was phantastic, japanese style but followed by an excellent expresso coffee and a Panna Cotta at the end - can it be better? no! For good reason (the quality and freshness of the wonderful food) you are asked to make a reservation for dinner and/or breakfast. Though on the other side of the street is a small Cafe and Shop supplying everything you might need. It will probably difficult to get there with public transport - so coming by car is better. It is quite a bit away from everything. Therefore one of the trailheads to climb Mount Yakedake is just 1 km away from the Hotel.

The house is super comfortable and beautiful. The dinner and breakfast was the best in our trip to Japan. The 24h outdoor private onsen (there are 2) provided a good relaxing experience. The host is very kind and always ready to help. Location in a beautiful little village near Shinhotaka ropeway and can be reached by bus.

The dinner was amazing - very delicious, thoughtfully plated and almost too much food for one person. The breakfast was very tasty too and I appreciated a lot that for breakfast in my part of the dining are the table and the chairs were repositioned so that I could look outside of the window to the maple trees and mountains while enjoying my breakfast. The outdoor onsen was beautiful, and in general the interior and details in the decoration were thoughtfully made. The accommodation keeper was extremely attentive and gave me a ride to the bus stop when leaving. When arriving to the hotel he picked me up as he saw me walking on the road and I hadn’t checked my messages where he said he could pick me up from the main road bus stop.

Very beautiful and clean rooms, facilities in a beautiful location perfect for hiking and a few nights stay far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The whole interior design was beautiful and super comfortable during the day but not ideal for sleeping. The outdoor onsens are beautiful with natural hot springs flowing all the time meaning that the water in the bath is changed continuously.
